The one thing I can relate to in that comic is that our soccer team always, always lost.
We never got our down-on-his-luck coach that had one last chance to woo his love before she married the rival coach.
My basketball team always lost, because I'd get put on a team with 1 guy who could play and a bunch of guys who couldn't. I couldn't make a shot, but I was tall as fuck and good on defense. Never had a good season there and I dropped it by sixth grade because of it.
Soccer I was good at. I was really good as a sweeper, and I played on one particular AYSO team that had just the right chemistry to get us to 1st place in the regionals and 4th place in the division.
Because our keeper was a Mormon and they scheduled our final matches on a Sunday. We lost to the best club team around and a club team that we had beaten before in scrimmages.
I feel for anyone who doesn't want to be there, but holy shit was it frustrating to play with those people.
