I'm making a list of recommended games for iOS and Android gaming at PAX. One will be fairly obvious, especially after the PAX East Omegathon finale. If you want to suggest games, make a note and I'll check on these periodically to add.
I'm hoping to get more games like Spaceteam, games with depth that can bring people together anywhere at PAX, so forgive me if I curate the OP list a little bit toward games with more depth and away from single-player battery-burners. Feel free to suggest and find those scattered in the rest of the thread though. There are indeed some great ones.
AND as a reminder... as far as self-promotion of your own game goes, don't. The eyes of mods'es are upon you.
@SmallLady posted a thread for useful "uitility" apps top pick up before the show.

Plague, Inc: pandemic, but as the disease(s).
Hill Climber: another time waster, but pretty damned fun. Race on tracks for distance, and upgrade vehicles and unlock new tracks.
I have all of these on android, no clue about their availability for iOS.
Other than that, most of what I play are the mobile standards (Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc) and emulators (I have an iControlPad for those; it's pretty nifty)
Is that "Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer"?
Because I doubt it's the "Ascension Cards HD" app, which is talking about teaching you to reopen the five fifth-dimensional chakras that closed when Atlantis fell...
For Spelltower, I had trouble getting the connection the first time, too. But great one for those so inclined.
Plants vs Zombies is never not fun.
I enjoy some ChuChu Rocket for my occasional Dreamcast nostalgia.
Also been getting a kick out of Icomania recently.
As far as I know these are all available on both platforms. Prices vary on both.
For iPhone, Alien Hominid PDA Games and Super Soviet Missile Mastar from the Behemoth are great fun as much as I hate a virtual joystick.
Honestly I haven't tried many multiplayer phone games.
For my contributions, PWN: Combat Hacking on iOS really is my addiction right now. I'm hoping the PAX community will embrace this one since it's super deep and great for dueling. It's a game of network domination with several strategic powerups, and winning a match really is quite satisfying. An Android version is planned but not available yet.
Also, Artemis Starship Bridge Simulator is on iOS and, in addition to hooking up with the original PC server instance, it can host a full server itself, albeit over Wifi. If you haven't heard of it before, it's like Spaceteam, but more realistic with more of a focus on really operating the separate stations of a starship bridge in the Star Trek tradition. Only got to play it once in geeky company, but it was super addictive.

Just checked, it is on iOS as well.

On a related note, I'm going to see if there is an iOS version of Fax Machine, as played on strip search.
--Nothing found that's any good for the real estate of a phone.
Short story long, you control several SWAT soldiers in a turn-based tactical cyber-punk decker environment to out maneuver your opponent. The game is normally supported by a master server for asynchronous gameplay, so getting a signal out will be rather difficult at PAX, but it does support a hotseat mode.
Added! I haven't played this one yet, but most of the reviews say the lack of a setup and teardown really makes this worth it. I'll give this a shot on the bus ride home tonight.
It's a very tough game to master

I beginning to wonder if we should spin off a discussion on Artemis games. People with Artemis on their phones and tablets really makes this a lot more viable. As long as someone is packing a server with sufficient power, an Artemis game could pop-up anywhere.
Added both Android version and the... ahem... more than twice the cost version on iOS. Different devs, I know...
Call of Cthulhu: Wasted Land; iOS and Android. Again, not really multiplayer but lends itself to pass and play. Great WWI Lovecraftian RPG based on the Call of Cthulhu pen and paper RPG.
Scribblenauts Remix; iOS and Android (via Amazon app store)
Xtreme Wheels; Android (not sure about iOS); best Trials HD clone I've played so far.
I downloaded Heads Up and want so desperately to play it with someone over 7. It's a fun game!

UPDATE: Also, just got the notice that Frozen Synapse is now available on Android, too. Still a beta, the only problems they anticipate are minor graphics glitches and framerate issues on some devices. You can also get this as part of the current Humble Bundle and help out Child's Play at the same time!

This is an awesome catch. The game was already worth every penny of the asking price, but this is an absolute steal.
While the gettin's good, people.
Now I am just imagining a crowd of people shouting things at other people holding ipads above their heads...
Spaceteam is now available... for Android!
I know I am very late in replying about Ingress, but I just got it today and am learning the ropes as a Resistance member, so I'd love to help you guys. The convention center looks very green right now...
Be the very best. Like no one ever was. http://paxpokemonleague.net
Essentially you get cards for said characters and equip them. When you battle you pick from attack draw or defend.
If you draw you get a card (you start each match with a couple drawn), defend your character blocks & attack your character pulls off the attacks you have drawn.
Its more indepth & better than my explanation but its really fun qnd a must have for any tekken fanatics!

Oh my goodness

I'm not adding it to the above list because there isn't a multiplayer aspect, but it certainly worth your attention. The "story" really could not be more inconsequential, but you're building a space station with several basic room types. Aside from placing rooms (which incidentally fit the Tetris shapes), you direct your "minions" to build rooms, work engineering, research monoliths, defend the station from waves of invaders, and... work in food service. Quite a bit of fun and definitely a worthy game to keep you busy on the plane/on the train/in the car.
Sources tell me, the name of the game is roughly "space capsule" in Swedish.
