I killed so many hours with Battlefront 2 on the PS2.

I don't care if this one is basically Battlefield 5 with Wookies. I want it.

I hated BF3 after a few hours. BF4 looks like more of the same (amazingly so).

I really, really hope this turns out differently.

Well, at least we all know now why Battlefield 4 isn't Battlefield 2143.

It has been far, far too long since the last Battlefront. This game will devour my life if they pull it off.

I've played every battlefield since 1942, and all that i really have to say is if you want an experience where you can be shooting at mans on the ground then decide you want to hop off into an air or ground vehicle at will.... You'll probably have your life devoured...

(granted its not "Dice proper" but man, they do some good things that i hope will rub off on the new studio.)

Except the destruction. They can keep that.

I am curious what you mean by this. I feel like Battlefield has the sort of mechanics that an amazing Battlefront game should have. At the macro level, you are fighting on the ground and hopping into vehicles where it seems necessary, and the micro you are able to "class out" between heavy troopers or the lighter (FAR LESS ACCURATE :P stormtroopers.) Or whatever the case may be.

Battlefront as a BF clone with new skins for soldiers and weapons? Yawnfest. Battlefront with crazy stuff like rocket troops, shielded robots that roll around at motorcycle speeds, knocking down AT-AT with tow cables, and generally over-the-top Star Wars combat combined with DICE level destruction? Sign me up.

Really, really hope they make this more like the other Battlefronts, just with a lot higher quality. Nitty-gritty blue-filter realism would totally kill this for me.

Though if nothing else, at least that asshole Lucas is out of the way so we can finally start seeing stuff from past the prequels again. I could see an AT-AT escort mode to protect them as they get into position to be just ridiculously rad as hell.

Had loads of fun with the original Battlefront, here's to hoping they can deliver another experience like that.

    Fixed that for you. :P

I was never able to get into the Battlefront games, but at least the series isn't dead (RIP Pandemic, thanks again for that EA). Maybe DICE will add enough classic Star Wars goodness for me to actually get interested in this one. If all else fails, just make a Gungan faction that can be easily steamrolled as catharsis for you know who.

I completely missed the original Battlefronts when they were in their heyday.

I will not make that mistake again.

Sorry to dig up the thread but:

No doubt there will be a few more Star Wars games revealed that day.

I think it's safe to say that day 1 purchases of this game are gonna be at an all time low just because of how much of a clusterfuck BF4 has been.

Fuck that - unless the reviews right out the gate say "terrible", it's probably going to be day 1 for me.

...Though I'll probably give it until later in the day just to be safe.

I am ridiculously excited for this. Battlefront 1 and 2 were huge in my circle of friends and I can only imagine this will be as well. Plus, contrary to popular opinion, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with BF4 and continue to do so.

So yeah, day 1 for me too.

Heck no, just the opposite because STAR WARS, plus there's no way that EA and Disney are going to allow DICE to mess this up, right ?

    Right ?

As long as the don't force it out the door too soon it should be fine. Am I mistaken in the idea the bf3 team is doing this one? I'm pretty sure bf3 and bf4 were worked on by different teams anyways. And bf3 had its bugs but nothing I remember in my 300 hours as gamebreaking as 4 had.

I think the more appropriate phrasing is whether EA/Disney will allow EA/Disney to mess this up, forcing an unrealistic release date on DICE. Isn't that the root of why BF4 has been such a nightmare?

Yeah, unfortunately, the fact that "Star Wars" will be on the box will probably be enough to move plenty of units, regardless of quality.

Doesn't mean I don't hope that EA/DICE doesn't turn this into a tremendous fuckup, though.

The game will be released along side the new episode VII movie, Holiday 2015.

They are debuting the game completely in April along side a star wars convention in California.

Hardline seems to have launched without huge problems, so that's a good sign for Battlefront.

True, but Hardline is Visceral and this is DICE, right? Isn't it an accepted thing that DICE games don't work at launch? I mean, I want to believe and be positive... Battlefield 4 was just so so bad, though.

My understanding is that Visceral only did the singleplayer.

Huh, I hadn't heard that. I hope that's true, because then that is a pretty good sign for Battlefront.

meh, I had very few problems with BF3 at launch and BF4 actually alwasy worked perfect for me since day 1. I dunno if I'm just lucky or what but... maybe problems overblown?
