[NHL]: Can Seattle Take the Vegas Front Office in the Expansion Draft?
Yeah, that's the logical answer, but I feel like short of getting back Parise, no matter what we got back no Devils fan would be happy.
Is a draft pick and probably, I don't know, Dany Heatley? worth it over having Marty be a Devil for life? Realistically the return on Marty can only be but so good, otherwise he'd be playing more.
If the trade does go through, I don't know how I will feel about it either. Goal tender depth is an issue for the Wild right now with Backstrom being... well... "injured". And while Harding is amazing, with MS, he can't carry the load completely by himself without a bit of help from time to time.
Kuemper is playing great right now, however he looked shakey in the beginning of the season so who knows if he can keep this up into the playoffs or not (assuming we make it there of course which isn't a lock at this moment).
I vaguely recall hearing an idea to trade him to Montreal to back up Price, let him finish his career in his hometown, in front of family and friends, and show tell some of the Montreal guys what it took to get through the playoffs. Then go back to NJ in a front-office position.
It's not the craziest thing I ever heard, but with Price hurt, I don't think they can give up Budaj
The TSN panel made a really good point on the trade dealing in regards to Stevie and St. Louis. An NHL GM probably shouldn't be the GM for Team Canada or any national team, it creates to many situations like this on the professional side of things.
Dubnyk to MTL for future considerations. I think this opens the door for Budai to NJ for Brodeur, as Dubnyk will spell Price pending getting over his injury, then Carey and Marty down the stretch.
Maybe?

More likely is Price is heading to LTIR and Montreal was desperate for a quick solution.
Dubnyk was on waivers 2 days ago, they could have claimed him then.
Unless there's another late trade I would have liked the Pens to get another bottom six player to bolster that crapfest. Still, I'd glad they didn't pay what they were saying it was going to take to get Kesler.

The prospect is Collberg and the 2nd round pick is conditional.
I love this deadline more than any other. Great trades, ridiculous deals, and Snow and Gillis coming off looking worse than ever. Everything that could be wanted out of this deadline was here in spades. Wish Kesler had been dealt though.
Garth Snow turned a first round pick into a prospect and potentially lost the second round pick, depending on the conditions.
Now he has to decide whether or not to give up the first this year when it's looking like a top 5 pick or next year when it could be just as high in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.
Garth Snow is like a dirt wizard who turns perfectly good things into thin air and Sebastien Collberg.

I kind of wanted to see Martin Brodeur traded for a 4th round pick.

Garth Snow has to be fired right?
He traded Moulson, a First and a Second for a Second and a prospect.

Montreal also gets a 5th round conditional in addition to Vanek in the trade. The 2nd round pick they give is unconditional (ed: some reports are saying it's conditional, nobody's sure yet. Deal is still funny no matter what).
The Caps traded a goalie and a defenseman (that he just traded for) to Buffalo in exchange for another goalie and a pick. How does GMGM have a job? Your defense can generously be described as swiss cheese and you trade one of your better defenseman for another goalie?
Ok, I think I'm ok with the Pens getting a couple of bottom 6 forwards in Goc and Stempniak for a couple of 3rds and a 5th. You can't be trading your first round picks for overpriced top line rentals forever.
Unless Bo Horvat turns out to be a superstar Gillis has fucked up pretty badly with his goalie moves.
The reports of Thomas yelling at his GM last night after Luongo being moved to Florida are comical.
horvat was rated in the top-6 signed prospects a few weeks back. he has massive potential. the canucks had targeted him specifically and were willing to do just about anything to get him - that meant trading schneider, which was fine.
in terms of luongo, weren't people saying last year that his contract was untradeable? that he'd be bought out? of course that changed a bit with schneider gone, but lack has been fantastic, there are still analysts who think markstrom is the best goalie prospect around, and after tortorella's boneheaded fucking heritage classic choice gillis had to pull the trigger once and for all. gillis did the right things here.
also he didn't trade ryan kesler for brandon sutter.

He's been a substandard goalie for 4 years now. He should not be playing ANY games with Schneider there.

Also, what the fuck is going on with the trade deadline this year?
Dustin Penner got traded for a fourth round pick. Mike Brown went for a fourth last year.
I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
Lots of tire pumping?
The Luongo trade is horrible, I'm really glad Gillis managed to bungle up having two elite goalies so badly.
Makes sense to me at first glance. Guess I'll need details to see how it works out

And man, Trade Deadline Day just isn't the same without Jay and Dan. Sigh.

Like we all said he did when he did it.

Wild reported to have picked up Molston and McCormick from the Sabres. This hasn't 100% been completed by the league but the report is in for it.
