The Sixth Annual Triwizard Drinking Tournament Part 1 (Preliminary Thread!)

As it turns out I'm not dead. Yet.

I know people are starting to get anxious about whether or not there will be a TWDT this year and since my liver hasn't given up yet there will be. This year's pre-PAX bar crawl will continue to take place pre-PAX on Thursday August 29th. Registration will once again be handled through Eventbrite so make sure you have an account ready to go. I'm currently planning on opening later in the month.

I'll update this thread as I have more info for you but currently my plan is to get in touch with all the volunteers first before I post any more. I'll be doing that over the course of the week.

While I'm not ready to go into full details of what this year's TWDT will entail, this is the beginning of the end of what I originally envisioned for the TWDT. And to understand the future you must first master the past. Something like that.

In the meantime, please feel free to share stories/pics of TWDTs past or what you think will happen on this year's TWDT. Or you can just get ready to bitch about quickly Ravenclaw is going to fill up. I'm pretty excited for this year's bar crawl and I hope you are too since I can't wait to see all of you in 2 months!

Also really hoping there's no "drinks based on the number of years you've done this crawl" challenges, because doing 6 shots in one sitting during a bar crawl is just bad news.

Oh my god yes. Last year's TWDT was my first PAX drinking tournament and it was definitely quite the experience. I didn't get into costume, but I'm going to attempt something this year.

I was on Gryffindor last year, and my highlight of the night was definitely when Slytherin was approaching us for the second bar (cheering SLYTHERIN through the streets), so I stole their megaphone and... yeah, that was fun. I hope for a repeat of last year if not better.

Hearing about (and seeing in action) the TWDT is what made me decide to break out of the "going to PAX for the panels" funk I've been in the past fews years. This year I plan on doing all the fun stuff the forums have to offer. And every day I've been checking for this thread. I'm so excited! Let's do this!

I'm really interested in participating in this, but I can't actually drink beer. Is this an event I can participate in drinking predominantly mixed drinks / cocktails / other things that are non/lightly-carbonated?

Plenty of the challenges in the past have been of the beer-or-liquor variety. I've done every single challenge all 6 years, and I've had maybe 2 beers during that entire span.

Up until I needed to be carried back to my hotel, TWDT was the best night of PAX last year. (The fact that I missed all of Friday throwing up notwithstanding.) (Un)fortunately I'll be 6 months preggo by PAX this year, so I'll have to sit out this year. I hope everyone has the best time, and avoids any mixed drinks containing Monster. That shit's gross and leads to nearly blacking out and actually getting carried out of the Unicron.

I do not follow along with HP but I know that this is one of the Pre-Parties/Events that is a must go to thing. It has so many fans I felt like I should have signed up but held back in favor of boardgaming and...letting one more HP fan get in on all that is TWDT.

Whether you drink or not, you can see the TWDT participants gathering hours before & heckling at one another up and down Pike.
If you are on the fence, do it.
