All here with you guys. Also if I recall, it was thanks to a tweet by Halfazedninja that made it possible for me to book my tickets and hotels in time. Hope the same magic will happen again this year :)

We need to get some kind of alert network going on. Or something.

Agreed. I really want to get into the Westin or Seaport but you have to be almost lucky to get a reservation in time.

Somehow I'm always off when registration opens. I post the Pax east Facebook fan page after I've texted my friend.

I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that if I'm at work and tickets go live, I'll be quickly excusing myself to race home (because who wants to rely on work PCs or tablets for ticket purchases).

For whatever reason I remember the Westin selling out in about ~2 hours last year but the Seaport had good rooms available for about a day.

I stayed at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf last year and that place was awesome. I hosted the Pre-PAX game night there (the other one was at the Westin) and will probably be hosting another one this year :)

Yeah, I'll be ready for another PAX in about a month. I don't see how they could add another show! It's already like 3 PAX shows in 6 months.

I'm with ya guys as well. Stalking the twitter feeds and paxsite as well. Really hoping that I'll be able to get into the Westin but I know it's near impossible. Or so I'm told from my fellow PAX friends, i.e. Frugus and I believe I met Halfazedninja, along with others of course :p

I'm with you good folk. Time to obsessively check the PAX East forums until badges and hotel are taken care of. You know, I do some pretty heavy neurology. I could probably link all our brains together so the moment one of us knows we all know. Only "small" chance of "permanent coma"!

Last year tickets went on sale the same week as New York Comic Con. But honestly i would doubt it would be the same date. I would imagine they will go onsale on a Monday sometime in October.

I can't believe I'm so excited about something that isn't going to happen for seven months. PAX East 2013 was my first, but I knew before leaving Boston that it wouldn't be my last. While I had a blast last year, there was a lot I didn't know or simply had to be there first in order to learn, so I hope to plan better this year, starting now.

Before reading this thread, I didn't realize the Westin sold out so quickly, though it's understandable. I'm a little afraid of the cost of staying there, but I'm curious to know if people think it's worthwhile. (Okay, that's sort of a stupid question, but I'd still like to get others' options.) I used Airbnb last year to stay at a place that was about a fifteen minute walk from the BCEC, but I think I'd much rather stay in a place with other PAX'ers this time. Any advice would be appreciated!

Is it just me or did the Westin sell out faster than usual for Pax East 2013? I remember something about a link for the hotels being leaked early and the people were able to reserve before the actual link was live.

I'm seeing a lot of hand-wringing over when tickets go on sale. You will recall that PAX East does not sell nearly as fast as Prime. As a matter of fact, East tickets were available just a few scant weeks ahead of the event last year. There's no rush for those.

they ran out of 3 day passes in about a day, and the only way to try and qualify for the omegathon is with a 3 day. Plus PAX East is getting bigger so it will sell out faster.

Can I still jump on this waiting train? I'm not waiting for the hotels, since I live about 15 mins from the BCEC, even though 1 year maybe ill get a hotel and stay with fellow PAXers.

  • Account4ThisAccount4This BostonRegistered User regular
SpYkMo - I'm in the same boat, though I've got friends coming from out of town and I've been considering just piling into their hotel room (if they get in a close one)

Pax East vet here, and I'm beyond hyped for PAX East the 5 (Doesnt help that the wife went to Prime and I stayed home...again). I've managed to snag a room at the Westin every year, and Twitter/Forum stalking is the best way to stay on top.

We need a good name for PAX East 2014 (aka The One True PAX). Like PAX East V: The Fifthening.

I'm sticking with PAX East (Aka the One True PAX) The 5. Saints Row the 3rd was definetly one of my favorite games this gen, so it's either that, or I suppose PAX East the 5th.

Wow, 2014 is going to be the year of PAX. Not only is it the 5th East but it is also the 10th anniversary of PAX overall!

Though now I'm depressed because this thread implies that Pax East is going to be difficult to get in :( It has steadily gotten worse over the years so it is safe to assume this one will sell out faster than last year, and last year was pretty damn fast :(

  • HalfazedninjaHalfazedninja Author of Jake Howard: Multiverse 101! Behind YouRegistered User regular
Yeah last year's PAX East sold out of 3 day passes in just about 24 hours.

Westin @ 374 a night. Yeesh. For that price, I can damn near stay at the Mandarin. Course, it's walking distance....

Will have to think on that one. This year for East, I stayed out in Somerville. It wasn't a big deal, just a 30 minute drive each morning and evening, but eliminating that might be worthwhile.

Anyone have experience at the Renaissance a couple of blocks away? It's a Marriott, and those are always hit or miss.

The Westin will NOT be 374 a night - OnPeak/PAX will have a large(ish) block of rooms reserved for that weekend, but the Westin keeps some rooms back for itself. The block of Con rooms will probably be available in a month or so, and sell out in hours. If you want to guarantee yourself a Westin room, you can book it now through the hotel itself, but if you wait until the blocks open up it will be more like $180 a night, plus taxes/fees.
