Alittle more digging turned up info that the game will be available for DL on PSN at 12am EST (17th), 9pm PST (16th). So 3 hours earlier than I'd have expected but still no actual preload.
I don't believe I will be pre-ordering anything from PSN ever again, a lack of Steam style preloading makes it basically a worthless service. Then again this is probably the last PS3 / console game I will be buying for a long time, since I don't plan on getting a PS4 or XB1 any time soon.
@darkmecha where are you getting this? every other day one digital I've seen has been 12:01 AM Pacific.
In fact, the store page itself says:

Really weird that their store says one thing and twitter says another.
The Rockstar Games twitter retweeted them and said the previous time was incorrect though, so I guess Midnight EST it is. good news anyway, means I can have it downloaded before I could even go to and get back from a midnight release.

There is health regen, but only to 50%. Which is fair. I do not however see ANY fast food restaurants. At all. Not that it would matter anyway since Los Santos cops are all fucking ex-SEALS or some shit.
This is worrisome to me. One of the things I hated the most about IV was the sphere of police omniscience which, combined with the new driving physics, made getaways an absolute nightmare for me. Hearing that they're somehow even more tenacious in this game makes me fairly skittish.
On magic mike's stream he held off a 4 star wanted level for a good 15-20 minutes after bailing his first car and stealing a hearse. He managed to ditch the police heli under a bridge when he dipped into an underground hobo tunnel that fed into the subway. it was applause worthy

They at least aren't all knowing this time around. If you are hidden (and I assume no NPC phones you in again) you can evade them. I've evaded some pretty nasty 4 stars (haven't gotten to 5) with Franklin by dodging and then hiding out in an alley. Just driving in the circle no longer alerts them. . .because the circle doesn't exist. Every cop now has their own cone of sight (which isn't too bad). If they can see you, the chase is on until you lose them.
Add to the fact that there isn't a cop on every corner makes at least committing a crime a bit fairer. Winning against them in a gun fight. . .a whole nother story.

well, not really... a huge (and definitely majority) part of the console crowd still sees digital downloads as witchcraft and want the discs, so I don't think it's going to be ultra busy, considering the extremely high in-store preorder numbers.

The store lists it as 32gb. Unless that's just what it will be with the package + installed game, and then the installed game is just 18gb.
On that note, of digital downloads: Does anyone know how the (disc) "Special Edition" works, do you get the regular game, along with a redeemable key for the S.E.? As I may or may not want to d/l at 12am even though I have a Special Edition in the mail. If it's a key, I'll probably just give the disc to a friend.

The store always lists it at about twice what it is because it has to download and install it, while it's installing it will be taking up twice as much space for all intents and purposes.

Well there's been 4 conflicting updates that I've seen. The PSN store, the Rockstar tweet, information on the PSN forums and the new PSN Store tweet.. but if the PS tweet is the latest then it's probably correct. If it's not, I will angrily sit around for 3 hours, upset in a childish manner.

I mean, Rockstar confirmed the PSN tweet and they all seem to be in agreement now, so I can't imagine it being different. Regardless, I'm going to sleep and my PS3 is just going to download it whether it goes up at midnight or 3 or whatever.
@ED! Have you tried the 'not-in-car' camera angle? Was this angle in previous GTAs? I have to wonder what the fuck R* were thinking and it's probably my only major gripe. Unlike any other driving game where you'd see the entire hood of the car in front of you, not here, oh no, here the camera only gives you half the view. Sort of like you're driving around with one eye closed. It's utterly useless.

I'm actually thinking about going to a midnight release at Gamestop for this. Never experienced one before however. I picture a long line of crazy teenagers hopped up on their energy drinks, wriggling about like addicts waiting for their fix.
I will most likely be worn out from work, half asleep, and will most likely complain about the line the entire time
