As far as ideas go, I think things went pretty well last year. The theme is good, and we certainly have continuity for it since the bobcats stayed strong in 2013.
I will also volunteer as a go-between if people need to ask questions of their bobcat recipients.

Everyone who signs up will be randomly assigned another participant. You are then tasked to buy that person a gift. As a recipient, you will write a letter of things you like and do not like to The Great Cardboard Tube in the sky.
WTF Bobcats??
Yes.
Who can Sign up?
Anybody who has a forum account that was created on or before Aug 1st 2012 and has a minimum of 15 substantive posts. However, if you feel you should get special consideration outside of these rules, feel free to PM me. But the decision will be mine in the end.
THE RULES
•If you do not send a present. Your forum account will be banned.
- There is no exception for this. If you can’t afford to send somebody a present. Don’t sign up.
•Pairings will be Random. I’ll try to make sure people don’t get the same gifters/giftees as last year, but no promises.
•Recommended Gift Value is $20. Feel free to spend as much as you want, however, don’t be that jerk that sends somebody a $1 sheet of spider stickers........That's not cool
•No NSFW Gifts and NO TROLLING.
GIFTER RESPONSIBILITIES
•Screw your family, screw your friends, screw your significant other (not the good kind of screwing), and buy your gift for your Giftee FIRST, because you’re going to have to mail the fucking thing.
•Get your present to your Giftee BY Jan 1st. Anytime after that and your risking not being invited back to the gift exchange and/or me sending Moe after you.
•If your gift is going to be arriving after Jan 1st. PM me. Your excuse better be AMAZING.
•Don’t tell me your gift got lost. Pay for tracking.
GIFTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
•When your present arrives, you MUST post on the forums letting everyone know what you got and how amazing it is and thank your Gifter. Failure to comply will result in not being invited back next year.
•Pictures and thank you posts are MANDATORY.
•Open and post about your gift as soon as you receive it. Otherwise tracking you all gets far too difficult.
I considered that, but I hate asking for special treatment. I don't fit the criteria this year, but I will by next year, and that's fine. I'll just keep reading the letters to tubey.

Well, the idea is that someone who maybe only ever posts once a year in the hotel share thread probably doesn't have much community involvement. "Decent posts" isn't going to be someone critiquing your every word
Mainly, nobody wants anyone to get shafted. Someone with little to no community involvement has less incentive to be good since the only *real* punishment for being a deadbeat is to get banned for life from the forums. That and having your name forever cursed.
On that note, this is also a good time to remind everyone that we are an international forum. You may get paired up with someone not in your country. Be prepared for this eventuality and don't complain about shipping costs. What would be super awesome, if someone has some time on their hands, is if we could have some posts about the various laws regarding shipping gifts to the USA, Canada, The UK, and Australia (forgive me if you're from somewhere else, those the primary countries for this community).
In addition, maybe some online retailers in each country that allow foreigners to make purchases to be shipped within that country? Something like an American shopping via the Canadian Amazon (if that's even a thing they can do).
Oh! not sure how I forgot this earlier. I suggest if you play steam games, you put your steam profile in your signature and we should all add each other in this thread. That way we can not give ourselves away as the secret santa by adding someone later on in order to look at a wishlist.

Okay lovely! I'm happy to take part, it sounds like fun, and I'm always up for some international shipping (hence my pin pals trading!). I always tick the "gift" box on the declaration and keep the declared value at $50, that seems to keep everyone happy in customs.

Yes... YES!!! I would love it so much if people got into this. In fact I wish I had something like every year I participated.
Also, of course I'm in, just not sure what to write just yet.

Anything marked "Gift" will be subject to Duty and VAT if the value is over £36. If it isn't marked gift, the limit is £15. Anything subject to duty can be stuck in Customs whilst they value the item, and that can take up to two weeks normally, and six weeks around Christmas.

Could we organise a specific steam group for everyone involved, then it's easy access to everyone without necessarily flooding out friend lists?

edit: not viable, deleted.
Also secret bobcats are not pax east only (seeing the name says pax east)
