You can use those tupperware containers to keep them in the sour state forever.

Problem is they are super rare in Dark Arisen.

Kept Golden Eggs are great items to have carrying around for an emergency.

Not anymore. They were rare in the original console release of Dark Arisen, but put back in all the rereleases. You can buy as many as you like in the PC/Switch/PS4/XBONE version.

Dragon's Dogma is filled with mechanics that no one sanity checked. They're generally all more amusing than the crime and punishment system though. It's generally got a feeling of a Japanese development team attempting to make a Western style open worldish RPG a la Elder Scrolls or The Witcher without any outside consultation.

Some of you may recall my original pawn, Linty. She was big Warrior based on my cat, a big girl just as badass as she was kind and smart.

In the years since, the real Linty has passed away, with all the game characters I based on her being one of her legacies. I eventually adopted two more cats, one of which is Dustie. Like Linty before her, I've based multiple game characters on her already. This includes, as of today, a new pawn.

That said, I need some more friends with this game on Switch. I've only had Sporky's pawn show up in the rift thus far. If it matters to anyone, you don't need Nintendo's paid multiplayer service to enjoy Dragon Dogma's online features (same as all past versions, no paid XBL or PSN sub required). Do we need to revive the OP's spreadsheet with a new option for Switch?

I've taken the liberty of making a new version of the old pawn sharing form, to cover the three new consoles DD has come to.
Penny Arcade Dragon's Dogma ID Collector for PS4/XB1/Switch
The responses are kept in this spreadsheet.

This is not meant to replace the old form for PS3/X360, or the Steam group, so it does not cover those platforms.
@Archsorcerer can we perhaps get this into the OP?

I think there are a smattering usages of "queer" in the game as well. But it's also pretty clear they're using ye olde englishe definition of "strange or unusual" and not the more common usage (either positive or negative) of today. Still, if that's something that might crawl up your back, then fair warning.

This game has a really weird scale to it. It feels small, but sometimes not...and very dense with collectibles and enemies. Maybe that's what makes it feel less small, it takes a long time to go anywhere if you're engaging with everything you come across the whole way.

Almost feels like Zelda overworld sections, like the woods in Skyward Sword or some paths in Ocarina of Time. Or also sometimes feels like a more open world Fable. Plenty of corridors with unavoidable stuff in them, I guess that's the Zelda/Fable feel. or Dark Souls. Not that damage is unavoidable but more like you WILL encounter wolves and then a rolling boulder etc.

The reason that it's doing a full loading bar when you sleep is because that's when it synchs your pawn with the server. When you see it access the server randomly while you're out an about that's when it's pulling random pawns from all over that you meet out and about.

You get the Eternal Ferrystone after reaching Gran Soren (or after importing a vanilla save into Dark Arisen on PS3/360). This makes escort a breeze, so long as you can get to the target location yourself. The key lies in placeable portcrystals.

There's only so many places NPC's want to get to, and you can get enough portcrystals in the game to place one at or near all these locations, with a few to spare. A list of suggested spots, spoilered in case you'd rather discover all the place names:
    • Pastona Cavern - just outside the Bluemoon Tower
    • Devilfire Grove - just outside the Shadow Fort
    • Seabreeze Trail - on the ledge to the Witchwood back exit
    • Barta Crags - Just outside the Greatwall
    • Northface Forest - at the Traveller's Rest (could move this to the nearby healing spring for effortless escorts at the cost of less-convenient access to the camp & Manse)
    • Verda Woodlands - at Bloodwater Beach
    • Cursewood - on the slanted rock in front of Prayer Falls
    • Deos Hills - just outside Windbluff Tower
    • Manamia Trail - on the flat-ish hilltop overlooking the Mountain Waycastle and the path to Man-Swallowing Falls
    • Vestad Hills - in the ruins of Aernst Castle
Placing portcrystals in these locations gives you quick access to every main story location, and every escort location.

How does that work by the way?

Does using a portcrystal essentially create a permanent warp spot there, like the ones outside Gran Soren and Cassardis? And then you use the eternal ferrystone to go to any of them at any time?

I assumed it would be like a temporary one use warp back to that spot.

EDIT: Also looking on the wiki there seem to only be 5 portcrystals until New Game+, and they are really inconvenient to get until mid/late game.

My lanterns are flat-out disappearing in this game and it's driving me nuts.

The first time it happened was going through the quarry for the first time. I went to equip it with hotkey like usual and...nothing. Just wasn't there. I thought to myself, man did I accidentally deposit it in storage? Maybe I did? I ended up doing a lot of the quarry without a lantern just because I didn't want to have to make the trek back, but when I went back to storage eventually I only had 1 lantern in storage, and I knew I had 2 by then.

The second time it happened was just now. I went down the Everfall and found a second empty lantern there, so I was carrying a half-full and also an empty one. When I went to store all my loot afterward, there was only one lantern in my inventory, and it was empty. I searched through storage and all pawns and everything, and that is now the only lantern I have.

Yes, the beauty of Portcrystals is that you can plop one down, warp to it as much as you want, and then pick it up again any time you'd like.

Portcrystals can also be gifted to other players. Back on PS3 and PC, where I was playing NG+ 3 or more times over on multiple saves, I'd gift out the new ones I'd find. You can only place 10 at a time, so what else am I going to do with them?

You can get your first Portcrystal as soon as you can leave Cassardis, though you'll probably want to get your main pawn and a full party. To manage this at the start of the game:
Your goal is to get to Hillfigure Gnoll through the back route.
    1. From just past the Encampment, take the SW trail leading toward the Witchwood, preferably at night so you get wolves, not bandits.
    2. At the highest point of the trail, where it makes a corner of sorts, slide down the cliff to the forest at the North tip of Vestad Hills.
    3. Stick close to the sheer cliff face to the north and book it West, dodging or killing Saurians and a Chimera.
    4. Once the forest thins out and the cliffs let you turn North, do so.
    5. If you can jump up the cliffs it's shorter than going around. Mind the Cyclops and Hobgoblins.
    6. You want to head North-to-Northeast, cutting through Devilfire Grove and avoiding the Drake to reach the Rest Camp.
    7. From the Rest Camp, continue North, minding the Saurians, until you can enter the Quarry.
    8. Just flee through to the other side of the Ancient Quarry. There are three Ogres and tough bandits. You'll need to take one side passage and hop down a ledge to get past a gate, but then ignore the other side passage, which is blocked and can't be opened from the South side.
    9. Once through the Quarry, you're on Estan Plains, near the Wilted Forest. From here, you want to travel during daytime. The undead enemies at night are far worse.
    10. Head Northeast to the only bridge crossing the river. Mind the Hobgoblins and Saurians. Cross the open plains to the bridge. The roads are patrolled by tough bandits.
    11. From the bridge, follow the road north through Deos Hills.
    12. You should be relatively safe passing by Windbluff Tower. You might be harassed by Direwolves, which aren't too hard to avoid.
    13. Head to Hillfigure Gnoll. You may have to mind a Cyclops and Griffin, or with luck, just Snow Harpies.
    14. Inside, in the back lies your prize: A portcrystal, and two Ferrystones. A third ferrystone lies in the main chamber. Don't also forget the free Wakestone outside, at the heart of the drawn figure.
    15. At low levels, it's absurdly challenging to pass South through the Quarry; you're not approaching the monsters from behind and have to stand on timed switches to open the gates you bypassed coming North. You may want to Ferrystone back to Cassardis. You can place the Portcrystal here in North Gransys first, if you want it there.
    16. There's a free, repsawning Ferrystone on the little boat at the ruins of Aernst Castle docks. The bandits inside the castle ruins are not hostile, so you only have to worry about avoiding the ones outside.
    17. Access to all other free Portcrystals is barred until the appropriate story quests open their respective areas.

I like to keep one portcrystal handy all the time, because you can do the following:

When your inventory fills up, drop the portcrystal, port back to cassardis or gran soren, drop off stuff/sell/upgrade/whatever, and port back to where you were before, pick your crystal back up, and then keep going.
