Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4 on February 20, 2013 at a 2 hour event called PlayStation Meeting 2013, which was hosted by Andrew House & held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The hardware specifications and interface of the new console were presented by Mark Cerny, who also showed off the newly redesigned DualShock 4 controller.
Gaikai CEO, David Perry, took the stage to talk about the potential their streaming and cloud gaming service can bring to the console.
The Playstation 4 made its debut on Monday June 10 at the Sony E3 2013 press conference where it was revealed that it will cost $399 (US), contain a 500GB hard drive, and be packed with a controller and headset (ear bud + cord mic). The PlayStation 4's "used games strategy" was also discussed, and Sony announced there would be no DRM or protection on used PS4 games. Sony also announced that the PlayStation Plus subscription membership is now required for online gaming.
On August 20th 2013 at Gamescom in Germany, Sony revealed the console would be released November 15th 2013 in the US and November 29th in Europe.

Well...damn. I really want to know the context behind this one.
They're going to prank their son on Christmas with a PS4 box
The context is right there!
Upon further research apparently the PS2 sold 980,000 in 24 hours in Japan
http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/18/ps4-sells-1-million-consoles-in-first-day-breaks-all-time-record-4190612/
So what the dreamcast sold between 980,000 and 1,000,000?
I dont have Dreamcast numbers... just this article

Guys seriously this is killing me
I was having fun before, but now, it's all clicking. Editing my loadout to swap spawn beacon in and out every few deaths was an annoying extra step before, and there were certain abilities that I hadn't yet tried... But now everything is twice as fast and I'm in the action nonstop. I was adjusting my loadouts between missions before by changing guns and abilities manually, but now it's just a matter of selecting from the most appropriate of twelve options, with two button presses instead of five - so quick and easy.
And when I was almost ready for bed and got tired of running around a larger map and just longed for more instantaneous action? There's an ability that lets you instantly teleport to a teammate engaged in a firefight. Grabbed a shotgun, hit X, and every time I tapped right on the d-pad, I was ducking fire, running into a building with teammates, rounding a corner to face a group of enemies... It was like an instant fun button. I love next-gen.
Maybe he means the context of why they hate their kid so much they want to play a joke that cruel on him.
Possible reason: they're trying to get on Jimmy Kimmel's "Terrible Christmas Gifts" video.
The notion of buying a game just because it's so pretty is ill-advised
Although it did give me some gorgeous shit to look at as I realized I hated it
I sorta did the same thing in regards to Killzone, I knew going into it that I am not into that sort of game, but it was so pretty in the videos.
It is the only PS4 game I own that I haven't played yet
Unless you count Resogun, Contrast and the F2P stuff

I wasn't even aware of the existence of hybrid drives
Currently playing: GW2 and TSW

If you're going to upgrade, a hybrid drive is your best option if you don't want to shell out a ton of cash for an SSD
Tomb Raider was great, but I wouldn't buy it a second time. I do look forward to the inevitable sequel though.
I need more psn friends, so I might just start adding everyone on that list.

It's understandable, I'd be impatient too. Here's to hoping your second go at it is your last go.

Anyone able to confirm that? It's really annoying that the game doesn't even hint about this requirement.

I'd buy it again if it had actual story DLC (even something as simple as extra tombs) instead of just shit-ass MP stuff. Tomb Raider MP was awful, publisher mandated tacked on poo.
Also, if anyone's playing Knack, and having trouble with the inconsistant range on his air attack, the attack's range appears to be dependant on Knack's size.
That's super lame if true. I'm not a high score person, so I never worry about maintaining a multiplier. But if it's required to save all the humans, I'll probably uninstall this one.
It's like a Vespa versus a Harley. The Vespa gets you where you need to go and works well, but it just doesn't have the soul of a Harley.

There are no real launch games that are "for me", save maybe Assassin's Creed. Strangely this doesn't mean I want a PS4 any less urgently.

I just hate that the game doesn't convey to you whatsoever that it's a requirement to saving all the humans.

It's not great, but it also isn't quite as bad as reviewers want you to think.
If you're not a high score person why does it matter if you can't save all the humans? Just play it how you want.
I like that they don't tell you shit besides "Save The Last Humans" and throw you in the deep end, it's a nice throwback from the arcade days. You're meant to discover how to achieve that objective on your own by playing the game. Hell they don't even tell you what the Keepers are or what they do, but you quickly realize they're important.
When I jump into the server browser and apply some filtered searching, the game crashes and then when I boot it back up it says my save files are corrupted.
Oh, I hate you so much. How far did you get before you lost your multiplier?
Okay, so it's not just me with the corrupted save files...
I really wanted to tackle single player to unlock the multiplayer guns, and two corrupted saves kinda discouraged me.
