There should be something like wrestling keyfabe where no one who has played Bane ever admits to being punched out by Shia LaBeouf.

I don't think Hardy feels the need to defend his honor against a drunken sucker punch

I imagine the only way to actually knock out Tom Hardy would be a surprise sucker punch.

    And he'd totally own it.

Because I bet he's confident enough to acknowledge that in a straight up fight he would murder LaBeouf.

He wants to better understand critics with his film that he is plagiarising. That is something else.

    Did they change the trailer?

I got nothing for you now. Try again later.

I just have no desire for a sandman movie

Like, I don't want it to not happen or anything, I just thought about it a little and can find no part of myself that thinks my enjoyment of sandman would at all be enriched by seeing it on film

I can think of very few comics that are suited to film less than Sandman

I mean, Sandman is basically one continuous nine-volume story

you can't really put that to film without losing basically everything

Morpheus, the Sandman and Lord of the Dreaming, returns from a long imprisonment to rebuild his realm.

There's a pumpkin-man, a talking raven and a guy with mouths where his eyes should be.

    Go read it.

    Here is an actual synopsis:

DC had several heroes called "Sandman." It was a guy who wore a gas mask and used a sleep powder and he solved crimes. There was also a different one because DC has legacy heroes.

This book was written by Neil Gaiman, and it was about the actual Sandman. He has been imprisoned for 75 years, and breaks free in the modern era. The first trade follows his journey to reclaim his three items of power. One of these includes a mask that resembles a gas mask (which is why I mentioned the other characters at all).

Sandman's name is actually Dream, one of the 7 endless. These are all embodiments of human existence, and they all start with D. Dream, Death, Delusion, etc.

Dream's realm has fallen into chaos during his imprisonment, so after retrieving his instruments he has to go around setting things straight. There are nine trades of comics, and many of them actually are only tangentially related to Dream, as they will shift focus to telling a story about someone having dealings with him or using his power in some way or something like that.

The main cast includes Cain and Able (yes those), A Librarian, G.K. Chesterton, and a raven.

There are small nods to existing DC characters, but the references are small and you can get by without knowing who they are. Knowing that the previous Sandman is dead will be helpful though.
