How does the Scott Pilgrim comic compare to the movie? I've only ever seen the latter, and I've never had the money/motivation to pick up the former
Is it worth doing?
The comic is fantastic but fairly different in a lot of places
But its greatest benefit is of allowing the story to take place over a reasonable amount of time instead of like... a couple of weeks in-movie or whatever it was

The comic is terrific. It ends up feeling a little different from the movie, since the comic takes place over a much longer period of time, and it lets a lot of the characters shine a bit more. Kim is pretty solid in the movie, but she has a much bigger role in the comic, and she's pretty cool. You also get a better sense of why Ramona and Scott are together in the comic, because, well, they're actually together long enough for that to matter in the comic.
I went into the Scott Pilgrim comic with a very skeptical stance, but I found myself drawn in a bit. It's a fun and easy read and the relationships make a bit of sense. The climax/end is a bit confusing but I guess it's the way the creator wanted it to be.

Also I think the Scott Pilgrim comic and movie are pretty different in tone. Like, in the comics Scott comes off as a lot more of a jerk. (Because he's kind of a big jerk.) And also yeah all the minor characters shine a lot more than the movie. (Although there are a handful of jokes in the movie that are just perfect. Especially the nega-Scott one.) But the movie also has aforementioned great soundtrack so... it's all good.
I honestly think Scott Pilgrim should have gotten nominated for a VFX Oscar
as should Tron Legacy
but neither of them got a nod, but fucking Hereafter did
Equally bullshit: No editing nomination
Edgar Wright has received a lifetime grand total of zero editing Oscar noms, which is about the most succinct proof possible that the academy has just zero idea what to do with its technical awards

If you liked the sense of humor from the movie, the comics are that but even more so
I think through mobile posting I accidentally shot someone with an arrow and hit them

The movie is generally a pretty faithful adaptation
The comics are a bit slower paced since they have 7 books to work with instead of 2 hours but the spirit I'd very much the same
There's a lot more buildup to the fights, Envy has a lot more screen time, that kinda thing

It's also really, really funny.
If I had to pick one though, it would definitely be the movie
Fortunately we live in a world where you don't have to do that
I really want to pick up those colored hardcover editions
It's kind of like that but with a bunch of video game jokes and action mixed in

It is a really well constructed and executed flick
as should Tron Legacy
but neither of them got a nod, but fucking Hereafter did
It thematically makes sense and I liked the overall message but it still doesn't exactly feel right.
I think the movie is actually better about being a consistent, evolving story, even though it isn't as well developed.
The Oscars are kind of a joke, I think
The only nod I felt was truly missing was
(Spoilers for the comic)
More than anything I just wanted a 360-style notification to pop up on the bottom of the screen
Well sure but this was hella glaring, even for them
Hereafter has basically one effect: a big wave
this is aside from the fact that Hereafter was a shit movie all around

Well this year The Lone Ranger was nominated for a Visual Effects Oscar over, say, Pacific Rim
That seems like a crazy oversight to me
Steam: YOU FACE JARAXXUS| Twitch.tv: CainLoveless
wait PacRim didn't even get nominated?

Noooooppeeee
I mean, Gravity was nominated too, so it's not like I expected Pacific Rim to win
But c'mon, Oscar people
c'mon
I think the lack of a music nom is even more bullshit.
I mean, the VFX were amazing, but the film's sound was pretty much perfect for what it needed to be.
Why I fear the ocean.
Because if that isn't the case that is some colossal bullshit
In case anyone thinks this isn't true

EDIT: Oh god I'm so glad Etchwarts wasn't responsible for another ghosting
I love me some walking has become one of my go to phrases since that film came out.
It's somewhat more versatile than expected.

If The LEGO Movie doesn't absolutely sweep every animated category I'll start an angry letter campaign against the Academy
Think about how crazy that category will be next year
The Lego Movie
Big Hero 6
Finding Dory
The new Laika movie that I forget the name of
Hey, let's wait until Big Hero Six is out to begin the campaign.
I mean, yes. LEGO movie is the odds on favorite, but it's a good idea to leave them at least a chance of victory. Might make 'em work harder.

I mean it does something wholly unique with its aesthetic and manages to tell jokes that don't talk down to its audience and
(spoilers)
All while taking what should've been a two hour toy commercial and turning it into something really, really special
I'm sure there will be other fantastic animated movies this year
But I think The LEGO Movie will remain my favorite
