But if I don't want to revive them, can I just pick/make a new character for the vacant room or do you still have to pay the manager 500G?

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
  • BonepartBonepart Registered User regular
Oh! Not sure. I imagine you have to pay per person you make, since renting the room is a different deal. I've only made one person though.

    Finally killed Mars

You can revive them in the basement for a fairly small fee

In other news, Mars stomped me twice more. She wasn't hitting this hard earlier.

I've gained some levels and gotten better equipment, so I shouldn't be having this much trouble.

The game is feeling your confidence and is determined to rectify that silly notion.

It seems the game lets you make someone for free when you rent a new room, otherwise it does indeed cost 500G.

Picked up my 4th room for 5k, and made a Human Paladin. 10k for room number 5! XD

Oh my, Fran is rather cute... though there's something rather unsettling about her...

I'm really on the fence about the gated party sizes. It does make sense from a game-universe perspective and from a mechanical perspective, it prevents players from getting into the frustrating situation where only 1-2 people out of an entire 6 member party could do anything each turn because they're the only ones with gear worth a damn.
However, it rubs against what I'd consider to be the norm for a dungeon crawler because you don't have a full party...

Mars beat'd! My team is becoming a mor formidable group. Up to 4 members now: Gazer/Paladin/Assassin/Healer.

Once the healer hits lvl 6, they get a skill that regens MP while you're walking around the dungeon. Pretty dang useful!

Also, anyone know where to find all the elven gear that Kukure wants for that quest?

Okay. So I'm stumped here. I have one circle left in the slave grave, and I have literally zero clue how to get to it. I looked at a map, and it tells me there should be another cursed swamp square that will lead me to it, but it's just a solid wall that I cant kick into oblivion.

Do we have any theorycrafting on the "proper" main character builds yet? The Japanese wiki lists three: Melee Centric, Demon Support, and Tanky.
    http://www.spoiler.jp/srv/dg/E382AFE383A9E382B92FE38387E383A2E383B3E382B2E382A4E382B6E383BC.html

    Melee Centric:

VIT until you get a minimum of 10-15 HP per level
Focus on AGI and LUC for attack and crit abilities
    Later, focus on MYS

Ignore STR and INT. STR helps damage, but the other stats are way more important.

    Demon Support:

VIT until you get a minimum of 10-15 HP per level
Focus on MYS, then AGI and later LUC

    Tanky:
VIT until a minimum of 15 HP per level.
    Focus on MYS/AGI/LUC
Use Artifacts to basically turn yourself into a Paladin

  • chocoboliciouschocobolicious Registered User regular
The first one is probably the best choice. You don't need heavy demon support till later so you can put stuff off till then.

Basically you'll just end up as a ranged support who nukes stuff with bane spells.

    steam_sig.png
  • KiTAKiTA Registered User regular
One thing to mention, apparently two of the first Artifacts you can get right after the tutorial that are absolutely vital:

Divine Body gives you a chance to take less damage upon getting attacked. But more importantly, if you equip it upon leveling up, you gain a bonus point of DEF, permanently.
Shadow Step gives you a permanent bonus to EVA upon level up, but only if you have NO armor equipped.

You can do this later on by rerolling your PCs, but you can't do it to the main character, so... yeah. Don't grind until you get those two.

Actually the ranged support who nukes stuff is the demon support focus, not the melee one. The melee one is focused on phsyical attacks, the summoner focused on using the Gazer's spells, I believe.

Anyone know how much Vit means "10-15 HP per level"?

I can't tell if I've made a critical error or not. I desperately wanted that 4th party member, but was only sitting at 3000G. Found an artifact that granted the Holy Weapon ability and decided to sell it for 3000G to get that party member. I'm just about to head into Slave Grave, and while my healer has the holy weapon ability, It probably would've been a good idea to put that artifact on like, my pally or something.

How does one get an artifact anyway? Is it just a random drop, or something that can be farmed an infinite number of times, or is selling any of them a really, really bad idea?

There is an artifact gem you use at circles.

I got the Holy Weapon artifact as well, and I think I may sell it. I haven't found a fight yet where I need to be able to buff more than one person with it in a round.

Does it just let you cast it, or does it affect you with it innately? Because if it's innate it will make auto-combat quite nice in certain areas.

I started the game with the default class (gazer) and character options (except the name). Then i accepted that girl Paladin as my first Party member.

I made a custom paladin and things have been mostly smooth sailing so far. You may be a bit wanting for healing, but Gazer has a heal, and Comet will semi-randomly heal (she does seem more likely to do it if you need it), so you should be fine.

You probably should save the support buff artifacts for characters that are going to be dicking around for most fights, since they use a turn to cast. I.e. Wizards will be on semi-perma defend until bosses to save mana. Give it holy weapon and along with the healer you can now holy weapon two melee in one turn.

Managed to take out the fiend at the Inn last night. I waited until my Gazer hit level 10 and got his second Demon Slot, that was handy.

I also did a bit more buffing this time, and it seemed to help. All in all it went pretty smooth, and I didn't lose anybody.
