Well one of the big problems is this. There are multiple meters to do a rhyme in. Off the top of my head:

    Your standard:
    ---A
    ---B
    ---A
    ---B

    The double time:
    ---A
    ---A

    The lazy:
    ----
    ---A
    ----
    ---A

    The dirty limerick:
    ---A
    ---A
    ---B
    ---B
    ---A

The game's problem is it switches which meter to use every 5 seconds. Your brain will recognize and get used to one rhythm, and then they switch it. It has all the effect of somebody in a car doing 70, then 20, then 40, then 70, and you in the passenger seat being jerked around like a rag doll. You just want to smack the fuck out of the driver and tell him to pick a speed and stay there.

Everything else about the game is aces, which sadly makes the above problem kind of stand out even more. If you're capable of looking past that one problem, the game is totally freakin' worth it.

From the creators of 2013's Rise of the Triad comes Bombshell, an isometric action role-playing game for PC and PlayStation 4, from Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms.

Bomb Disposal Specialist turned mercenary for hire, Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison must strong-arm her away across 4 planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galatic adventure to rescue the president from an apocalyptic alien threat. With out-of-this-world enemies, a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weaponry and a host of genre-crossing mechanics, Bombshell is set to blow you away.

Boy that was a shitty trailer.

A friend of mine finally bought a PS4. I was happy because I thought I had a new FFXIV pal (she's the only person I personally know who still plays). But her husband won't let her play with me because he hates me. Not sure why. I was always nice to him. He won't even let her friend me on PSN.

On the good news front my brother gave me a copy of Knack! So I finally get to play that. I had honestly forgotten about it.

The 90s are sadly a long distant memory.

I also can't help but wonder if this is some kind of allusion or get around their problems with the Duke Nukem license. If you're wondering why I say that, it's because DNF a long time ago had a character in it called Bombshell who was similar in concept (she was blonde haired though) and I can't help but notice the similar to Duke looking aliens in the trailer.

It might be so plain bad because it's literally been cobbled together very recently.

3D Realms told the developer, Interceptor Entertainment, that they still have the right to make Duke games. When Interceptor announced that they're making a new Duke game, Gearbox (who bought the rights in a nice little package with Duke Nukem Forever) got their lawyers on the case. Turns out 3D Realms doesn't have the rights and Gearbox wasn't willing to license them out, so Interceptor had to do some hasty modifications so all their work isn't completely wasted.

Why would they need something awesome at E3 to counter a bunch of announcements that merely brought a losing competitor to parity in those specific areas?
What an odd choice. I thought it was yes/no situation. Can't imagine that many people wanted PS1 backwards compatibility on the PS3, but wither didn't care about PS2 games or didn't pick up the original model.

It's because the PS3 has easily enough power to Emulate the PS1 architecture and games.

The PS2 backwards compatibility was because the first-gen PS3's literally had an entire PS2 inside of them (well, the core components).

The PS2 used the PS1s CPU as a sound chip! They just left the PS1 BIOS in and if you put a PS1 disc in the PS1 CPU fired up and did its thing. So in actual fact, if you have an original model fat PS3 that has the PS2 circuitry in it, you have three consoles in one.

Sorry to ruin the dream but nope. The PS1 CPU was eventually removed from the PS2 as a cost cutting move (replaced with a cheaper chip) and backwards compatibility was done via emulation. Also, they only included the Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer in the very first PS3 model (the second line, first available at the PAL launch, removed the Emotion Engine, emulating it instead).

Turns out we're both wrong! And I bought a 60 gig original model, so I have hardware PS2 backwards compatibility in my PS3. So yeah, I have three consoles in one.

I'm not wrong. I know for a fact that they removed the PS1 CPU from PS2 Slims. Feel free to google it if you like, there's plenty of sources out there that'll confirm what I'm saying.

That analyst is nuts. Without Kinect, the One's only selling points are going to be the games. So far, with resolution wars going on, Xbone has been losing that war handily. This means their fate lies in 1st party games and exclusives.

I think Microsoft was banking on Titanfall selling systems for them. That didn't work as planned.

I think it's been proved to a reasonable degree that there's no such thing as a holy grail system seller game anymore, so there's no real reason to expect the Xbone to have a larger install base in the future.

Sony would have to really screw up, or Microsoft would have to do something balls-out crazy.

Much like PS3 last gen, I think it is going to be a long, slow process for Microsoft to dig themselves out of their current gap. There's a lot of hand-wringing that I'm seeing about essentially "well now that you can get a $400 One, the sales had better start flying in or you're all liars" and that's just kind of silly. This is heavy market research level so obviously I'm speaking with my perception and not facts, but I wonder just how much of the gap between One sales and PS4 sales is the class of people who need one console, just one console, and they're done for most of the generation. I additionally wonder how much momentum and influence those people have on future purchasers --- if the one-and-done buyers end up locking their one-and-done friends to their choice in platform --- and how large they are on a whole in the market.

I guess what I'm saying is, when PS3 was in its own predicament, I can't find a single event that saved them. And I don't think removing the Kinect is really all that balls-out crazy, either, that's just competitive parity. So Microsoft's job, for years from now in my model, is convincing everyone that there are compelling reasons to buy the One, for reasons other than launch-time issues like the Kinect features and the price. They've said "we done screwed up and tried to force something you [the market as a whole] didn't seem to want as much of", now they need to do that and pivot to "also here are some other great reasons to buy a One, even if you or your friends own PS4s".

Meanwhile Sony's job on that front is to keep poking away at whatever Microsoft comes up with, either with their own exclusives, "best on PS4" style marketing, or whatever. This might be a really interesting E3.

Are we still talking US sales or worldwide? Because in the US, Sony never dug themselves out of the gap. It just got bigger and bigger and bigger as the years went on. Worldwide is where they closed it and that's entirely thanks to Europe and Asia. Microsoft doesn't have the luxury of those kind of strongholds, so the gap is near impossible for them to overcome.

Well we can all clearly see where they did a cut and paste job replacing Duke with Bombshell. My question is, why are they ripping off the Terminator franchise so hard? Even down to the 'no fate' written on her cybernetic arm?

Also, holy shit, is that walk animation from an N64 era wrestling game?

I was talking worldwide for the gap because, console warring aside, Sony and (I assume) Microsoft have sales targets that are ultimately worldwide rather than region-based. I'd get into the rest of what you're saying but I was already reluctant to go further off-topic in this thread with my original post.

I want a Peter Molyneux game about Peter Molyneux, where the concept is that you are Peter Molyneux and you have to make a game. One of the promised features will be that you can promise features of the game you are designing in the game, and the goal will be to make good on them. Unfortunately, the promised feature of being able to complete promised features in the game where you make a game will be abandoned in development, and so you will have to abandon your promised features in the game where you design a game.
