It seems to be pretty dead, but I'm tempted to grab in from the current daily Humble Bundle just to play with its character skin and weapon editor.

@Kalnaur messaged me earlier and pointed out that Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara was on sale and noted it was on my wishlist. I thanked him, fully intending to buy the game a little later. A little over an hour later he asked me if I bought it yet; when I responded that I hadn't, he hits me with a code.

    Thanks!

So LaCabra posted a link over in the Game Dev thread but I don't think we've talked about it in here. He's got a really meaty blog post up about sales figures for InFlux: http://impromptugames.com/

Fascinating stuff. I'm always grateful when devs pull back the curtain and share sales figures.

I was playing it tonight - beautiful game - because I saw that it has Steam cards. Is that new? It's not even listed on the store page. Very few of my Steam friends have the cards. I hope he'll follow up on this post down the line and share any impact Steam cards have had on revenue and or actual game sales.

    Also this:

Just under an hour a day? to get in on this, folks.

Or you could just buy it.

Or if you have it you could play it and get the new Steam cards and then buy the cards you need to complete the badge.

    Lots of options, here, people.

That's all I did. Sign in on both devices and press play on whatever game, on the machine you want to stream to.

It didn't work too well for me streaming to a shitty netbook over a wireless connection, but the basic functionality is there. It was a little trippy seeing stuff like Mass Effect and Borderlands 2 playing on my netbook that can barely run FTL.

I really like how tight the combat is with how I can attack, grapple, and dodge without it feeling unresponsive. The first time I got locked in a corridor with a ton of spawning skeletons and I destroyed them all without a scratch, and a really high hit count, felt great. Completely different from Blade Kitten's floaty and unresponsive combat.

Has anyone used a Surface Pro (first generation) to stream to a TV? I've never used my Surface for anything but watching netflix in bed and as a digital sheet music display when playing piano. I assume it would work if I got a mini DisplayPort cable that would let me plug it into the HDMI port on my TV. Exciting idea to be able to play some of my stream library on the big screen without running a 40 ft cable through my house.

I use it to stream videos from my main computer, and also for Netflix when the girlie comes over. I do have a mini-displayport to HDMI though. I got one for cheap off amazon, they have the best decent-sized HDMI cables for very little money compared to your average tech store. However, since it's a first generation Surface Pro, I rarely play video games on it. The on-board graphics doesn't pump a lot of power even though the CPU, RAM, and SSD are great. I play DotA on it sometimes, but the performance is very noticeable and sometimes hinders my play. For less graphically intensive games, it works pretty well.

I have yet to stream Steam to my Surface, but now that you mentioned it... it will have to be done.

So, I just tried it. Really simple to set up, just launch Steam from both computers, make sure you have beta mode enabled. I only tested two games, Dark Souls II and Naruto. Dark Souls II runs pretty well. I wasn't able to move my mouse on my type keyboard and move at the same time though, which makes it unplayable. Maybe with a controller plugged in it wouldn't be an issue. There's some random lag spikes too, but I can blame that on my low end Netgear router, and that I have it set to Beautiful setting instead of Fast.

Naruto on the other hand was kind of a mess. It's one of those games that runs an intro screen before actually starting the game with options like play, graphics configurations, controller configuration, exit, etc... When it starts streaming, it zooms in on this screen and was really difficult to navigate. After struggling to hit Play, I couldn't even get passed the title screen that says "Press Start to Play" without a controller. I had to alt+tab out of it because I don't have a controller on me right now/ am lazy.

So my experience so far is that it's neat, kind of a novelty, but impractical for me personally because I'll want to be playing directly on my gamer machine anyway and not my TV. However, I can easily see someone getting this to work great with the first gen Surface Pro if they wanted to enjoy playing on a big screen without moving equipment around. I'd suggest getting a high end wireless router though, as your one USB will be used for a controller and not for a wired Ethernet adapter.

Yeah, I think you can just outright buy the game.

Has anyone played this Arkham Origins: Blackgate game? I hear it's kinda shitty, but I imagine my tolerance level would be a bit higher since A. It's Batman who I like on occasion and B. It's a metroidvania, which I love on occasion.

Get Arkham Asylum instead. It is infinitely better at being both a Batman game and a Metroidvania. I played Arkham Origins Blackgate, and the port to PC can't have fixed the awful boss fights, the confusing map, and the sluggish combat.

Yeah I had a lot of issues getting it going too.

It sounded a lot more obvious than it ended up being; mainly because you can't force (as far as I can tell anyway) Steam to update, so you're kinda just going on its whim and hoping it's up to date.

But long story short, when you're sure both PC's have the correct version of Steam (you might even try a full restart on the PC's), and they're on the same network, you'll start up the 'main' PC's steam first, get it all loaded and logged in. Then you go and load up Steam on the PC you want to stream to and get logged in (to the same account). After a minute you should get an automatic popup on your main PC that your other PC is going to be connected, accept that and you should be good to go. The stream PC will automatically show all of the games you have on your main PC and you just click stream and it loads them up with whatever settings you have them set to on your main PC.

Be aware of resolution differences; it will stream the resolution your main pc is at by default (for me 1080), even if your second PC can't handle that resolution (mine is 720-ish), and it will result in a more stuttery stream and everything will be slightly unreadable. On your main PC in Steam > Settings there's a section for streaming and you can limit the stream resolution and it helps both that issue and it's somewhat lower bandwidth; incidentally you can also either limit bandwidth or set it to unlimited and to prioritize the stream for network traffic.

Wow, pretty much everything in Bioshock is harder to do after playing Bioshock 2 first. Although, knowing the story, the little bits and pieces left out make it a very interesting playthrough.

For the moment, the second one has a better engine and better gameplay, the first one has a more interesting story.
