the nfl season is upon us and here is a quick recap of recent events

- the patriots lost and looked terrible
- the bears lost and sunk a ton of survival pools
- nick foles is still an elite quarterback
- ray rice is still a wife beater and finally got released from the ravens several months after the event because PR control reached critical mass
- the raiders are still the raiders
- tony romo still throws interceptions
- micheal sam is on an nfl team!

This OP could be so much better.

Where are the gifs of the raiders new butt fumble or that one TB interception play?

Or even that gif where the steelers player kicks that dude in the face?

Are there any repercussions expected on that flying kick? That didn't look even remotely like a football play to me.

Also this whole Ray Rice thing is making me sick to my stomach. I don't understand why a video had to come out actually showing the punch before he got any real punishment.

Everybody suddenly speaking out against Rice that didn't before this video are hypocrites.

I have ESPN on just so I can keep hearing the words "Ray Rice has been released"

Also LaMichael James asked for and was granted his release from the 49ers. Hope he goes to a place with a not-good RB corps, because he probably wasn't going to last much longer anyway with Hyde being great last night.

I think it might have been an attempt to hurdle the defender and the defender staid in place instead of moving forward so Brown ended up landing on his face instead of going over him.

Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.

Yeah, between Hyde's performance and the fact that James wasn't doing kick/punt returns anymore, James had to know he needed to find elsewhere to play.

Didn't roger goodell say that he had access to everything the police had?

    How is this evidence new?

Either he lied, or they were covering it up until BASTION FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE TMZ got their hands on the tape and now everyone is bending to social pressure.

Either way, can we depose this guy yet?

  • simosimo Registered User regular
alright, now hopefully the media doesn't just say, "well, case closed" and there is actually some follow up investigation and accountability for goodell, the ravens, and the nj prosecutors office

Talk is that Rice's career is basically over. Michael Vick made his way back into the league, but there's video of Rice, and Rice was already starting to become kind of shitty. Nobody's going to risk that kind of backlash for a shitty running back.

We probably shouldn't lose sight of the actual victim in this, because she's probably not going to have a great time of this, either.

Can anyone find the tweet or article or whatever that says goodell had the same evidence as the police?

I'm responding to this because, and I'm going to use all cap's even though I shouldn't....

    FUCKING.

    SERIOUSLY.

His mannerisms and his reactions after getting off the elevator from the FIRST video tells you EVERY FUCKING THING you need to know.

    EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN THING.

His "oh man what a pain in the ass attitude", him literally DRAGGING her out of the elevator. This is not how a stable person act's after someone is literally unconcious. Like, I'll GIVE HIM, for FREE the first 10 seconds after it happend thinking it's faking.

But at NO FUCKING POINT did he show actual fucking concern about the person, his SIGNIFICANT FUCKING OTHER, that maybe, MAYBE she's NOT overreacting to you STRIKING HER SO HARD SHE WAS KNOCKED OFF HER FEET UNCONCIOUS.

That is ALL YOU GODDAMN NEEDED TO KNOW.

    To: Our readers.

From: Peter King, editor-in-chief, The MMQB

An addendum to the Ray Rice coverage:

Earlier this summer a source I trusted told me he assumed the NFL had seen the damaging video that was released by TMZ on Monday morning of Rice slugging his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City elevator. The source said league officials had to have seen it. This source has been impeccable, and I believed the information. So I wrote that the league had seen the tape. I should have called the NFL for a comment, a lapse in reporting on my part. The league says it has not seen the tape, and I cannot refute that with certainty. No one from the league has ever knocked down my report to me, and so I was surprised to see the claim today that league officials have not seen the tape.

I hope when this story is fully vetted, we all get the truth and nothing but the truth.

The chances of Goodell actually having to sit in front of a camera and answer the question of whether or not he was lying about seeing the video are basically zero right?

Happy to see James go. He was sort of a twat about not playing in every interview I've ever seen him give.

If I had to bet on who was behind the rumors of players getting sick of Harbaugh, it would be him.

When Ellington got the start for KR/PR I knew James' time was short.

I am more concerned about the DA dropping that case then I am about the behavior of the NFL and the team.
