I hate that my boss promised that I would work on-site this week
Because now every time there is a problem anywhere in the building someone walks up to me and asks me what we can do to fix it. These are the customers, so I can't just say "fuck off, I'm working on something else" and in this particular instance the answer was "well, I told your boss about this last week and it isn't my fault he hasn't done anything about it" so yay for being put in awesome positions by being forced to work on site for no reason.
Also losing half a day fixing another problem that my boss sent me out here to address in the first place, causing me to cancel meetings that I had set up weeks in advance to push forward on another project, and my boss is surprised that this might push back some of my finish times on these things.
"Well, I made promises that you'd be done"
Well, I would be done if you weren't constantly fucking with me
Yeah, but not for treason, and not for the rest of his life.
Kind of a big distinction.
i don't think mlk stole government secrets and transmitted them to a foreign operative either
I don't know, man.
I just have a hard time seeing what she did as treason in anything other than the strict letter of the law.
Again, how does selling classified information to a foreign national not qualify?
I wasn't aware Manning sold anything to Wikileaks.
It doesn't matter if she sold them or not. She broke chain of command, stole information from military computers, and transmitted them to a foreign agent with the express permission to leak them.
People could have and might have been killed because of this to little gain by the American people.
Whatever your opinions on drone strikes and data mining, allowing enlisted personnel to do that is a bad precedent for a number of reasons.
She should rightly be prosecuted and punished for her crimes. Now, her treatment in custody is another matter, and an important one, but this is still how it is.

there is a huge difference between giving information to a foreign based whistle blower site because you want to expose government actions on moral grounds and passing it to a shady Russian in a back ally for a briefcase full of unmarked bills
yes both are treason but they are not morally the same
besides any whistle blower website would have to be based outside the US these days, if it wasn't it would be trivial for the US government to shut them down

Oh well, back at it.
"Oh I reported that as an issue (X) days ago and it looks like nothing's been done. You might want to check with him to see what the status of for getting that resolved is. Check back with me if you still need my help in fixing it." is a perfectly legitimate response. Doesn't mean you ignore the problem but you put the burden back on them.
This is what people who suck at doing their job call "throwing someone under the bus"
I usually loathe it, however, when someone doesn't do their job, throwing them under the bus is a legitimate response. The only time I hate it, since I work in IT, is when someone throws up their hands and goes "Sorry that's your hardware/software that's causing the problem" even though it's not. I'll do the deep research and prove it to them, and then they do their fucking job to begin with instead of looking into the issue.
Like if I go "Hey I'm not getting reports from your interface all of a sudden" right after a huge update, I don't think my end of the equation is the one that has the issue. Yet it's an argument I have time and time again. All I ask is people do their fucking job.
tl;dr - Tie those assholes up, and throw them under the bus.

it revealed unequivocally that intelligence agencies across the western world were overstepping their bounds in ways they specifically assured us they had not
i mean yes we all knew this before, no one believed that the CIA didn't spy on American citizens for example
but before no one coudl call them on it because with zero oversight there was no way to prove what they were saying was bullshit
