I just don't buy games of a certain type until they have a "game of the year" edition and I expanded that rule to HD rereleases for games released near the console transition. It's served me well so far, the only game that's been an exception is Mass Effect since they're assholes who never came out with a version containing all of the DLC.
Funny you should mention that, because there has actually been some notable talk in recent months (but nothing confirmed) about a remastered edition of the trilogy, which could potentially integrate all the DLC, along with things like HD graphics and higher quality textures. As well as doing things to make the trilogy more "seamless" as a whole.
For anything that I'm planning on replaying anyway (and I absolutely replay great RPGs -- I'm actually winding down my 4th ME trilogy run right now), I would absolutely pick up something like that.
