[EAST] Amiibo Smash Brothers Side Tournament/Amiibo trading thread!

Would anyone be interested in an Amiibo side tournament at East this year (provided that you know everyone isn't having any issues grabbing Amiibos at stores haha)? I'd love to see how much training and good habits I can pick up from other players.

If anything, I can always snag a TV in classic console and we can go from there! I do want to see how my Link will fare against other people. Considering I'm terrible at smash and he has picked up all my bad habits! =P

There's a bar on Tuesday nights that does a lot of things with amiibos. Good life bar hosts game night, board games, video games, and magic drafts.

There might be something simular on Sunday Phoenix landing in central after pax closes.

Here's a snippet from what Nintendo is apparently planning on having at PAX East that I thought was relevant to everyone in this thread:

Nintendo also invites attendees to bring their trained-up amiibo figures to the show to take on other players’ amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS game.

Sounds like they might have amiibo battles on the show floor which would be fun.

If you are expecting one of the big 3 or Ike, Lil Mac, or Pit than no, no one is going to take that. But if someone has an extra common and needs Bowser I wouldnt be surprised if you could make a trade.

Yeah the only one of those 3 I want is Pit... who I already have. I'm thinking of just keeping it for Mario Party 10, and just opening it when it comes out.

You're not fooling anyone. Without a doubt, Sheik is an uncommon.

From Wave 3:
Bowser's a common.
Toon Link & Sheik are uncommons.
Mega Man & Sonic are semi-rares.
Ike, DDD, Lucario, and Shulk are rares.
Meta Knight and Rosalina are the unicorns of the wave.

Sheik for Villager (a unicorn as well), is a complete ripoff for whoever has Villager. Sheik for Rosalina is just as bad, if not worse, since Rosalina is a store exclusive.

Rosalina and Villager are both extremely hard to come by, especially new in box. Sheik on the other hand, still pops up on retailer websites, and you still have a decent chance of walking into a store and picking it up off the shelves.

I swear Amiibo rarity is demographic dependent. My area wave 3 is as follows:

Bowser/Toon Link/Sheik = common
Sonic = Uncommon
Mega Man = Semi-rare
Ike, Dedede = RARE
Lucario, Shulk, Meta Knight = Very Rare
Rosalina = The Unicorn

Catch for Rosalina here is that we don't have Targets. It's actually easier to find the three retailers easier than her.

So with the NFC capability of the New 3DS, Amiibo fights anywhere are going to be a breeze. One step closer to real life Pokemon...
I know that Nintendo has some event set up for this feature. Maybe there could be a way to communicate to others that you are openly accepting Amiibo challenges in the Handheld Lounge or somethin.

My point was: calling Sheik a fair trade for Villager or Rosalina is absolute BS. No one believed that, not during preorders, and certainly not now. They're not even close in terms of availability and demand.

Right now, here in NYC, Mega Man and Sonic are becoming uncommons. Toon Link is fairly common, depending on what store you go to, and Sheik is still an uncommon, but still manageable.

Meta Knights were such a pain in the ass to track down, because Best Buy basically gave everyone a big ol' middle finger. Rosalina is still the faithful Unicorn though.

Well you never know, someone may REALLY want something. Luck perhaps, but I traded a Pit for a MetaKnight cause they've been trying to find one for ages. I personally just go for retail value ($16 CAD), probably cause I'm too nice haha

I'm an avid Pinny Arcade collector, and would consider trading some of my spare Amiibo go for certain/multiple of pins at PAX East.
