goddamnit i give up it is absolutely impossible to hold a rational logic-oriented coversation with anyone about the Virginia Tech shootings
EDIT: turnin' on da WoW, tty'all later
That's why I don't bother.
There's nothing logical or sensible about such violence. It's hard for a logical, sensible discussion to spring from something so tragic. I'm not saying it's impossible but...
The argument in that thread has devolved into two sides: we need to find out why he did this vs. he's fucking crazy there's no reason behind it.
Whee.

Or it could just be that your whole "compassion" angle is horseshit.
What fucking "compassion" angle? We canned that shit a long time ago. Now it's about fucking ... nevermind. I'm done with it, like I said. Next time, look into what the people are actually saying instead of the sound bytes, or the article headlines, or the quotes of mine that they published out of context. They mention where the full source is-- it's there for the reading if you want to go and criticize it or whatever, but I'm not going to fucking answer for it because I'm goddamn done with it.
Let's go with what that guy said in the thread. "There is no rational cause for irrational actions."
Let's just go with that, notwithstanding the problems it presents.

Saying that there's no rational cause for irrational actions does not mean that you can't try to prevent irrational actions. I think the word "rational" is being ill-used in that thread. Try sane. There's nothing sane that leads to murdering 30+ people in that manner. Doesn't mean you can't work to stop it, though.
I also like the intimation that "psychotropic drugs may have saved him!" instead of "psychotropic drugs may have driven him insane!"
I'm also curious about these tapes he made, but also deeply disturbed and uncertain if I will be able to watch them.
The parallels between his videos and the Columbine kids are striking.
Is now the right time to admit that I subscribe to Columbine conspiracy theories involving extra shooters? There was at least one, probably two other people involved in that based on what I've read, and the cover-up for it is weird. The whole thing is weird.

Also, some have suggested that the confusion surrounding whether or not Cassie Bernall was slain for believing in God was deliberately exacerbated by Christians in an attempt to bolster the popularity of their faith by presenting a simple victim as a martyr.
The thing I read had extremely strong evidence pointing to accomplices and a concerted effort by investigators to keep the investigation only on Kliebold and Harris. There could be many motives for that, but just covering up something like an accomplice is weird.

If what I read is at all reliable, they were fairly blatant about it.
