MGS is the game that I'm most conflicted about. I keep swinging between wanting to pre-order it and thinking I should wait awhile to get it. And not just because of the gross Quiet stuff. That most recent demo opened with them talking about in-game microtransactions, and swearing that they'll be totally innocuous little stuff you can totally ignore. But I don't really trust a company that makes their money from casinos and pachinko machines to implement that shit in a fair and benevolent manner.
I don't know who this Quiet person you folks are talking about is, I'm pretty sure Big Boss's only companions are a dog with an eyepatch, a stealth horse, and a robit with rollerblades

He isn't actually. For a long time he is, but his stats are capped out at all A's, and his health and psyche are both set at 6666. He also doesn't have any special skills.
Eventually, you can get soldiers that are S rank in all their stats and have health and psyche of 9999. That takes a lot of grinding though.
It is pretty easy to get soldiers that are better than BB in one or two areas, or that have special skills that make certain missions easier.
