[Final Fantasy]: Spoony Bard vs. Meteor Sage edition
Posts
Keep in mind that many of the people you see were probably twitch streaming it or in a google hangouts with their friends while recording.
Probably not a problem for a fiesta vet, but just a heads up.
Curse you, Record Keeper.

F2P mobile. Looks fun.
Underground Waterway in FFIV core did it for me, think someone on reddit pointed it out as the highest monster:stamina ratio (since it has a chance to drop every monster)

According to Siliconera, there's a message at the end saying another new Mana game is in production as well, which is getting people's hopes up that there could be a regular console/handheld one coming too.
TWEWY mobile ended with the "New 7 Days" message, and we all know what came of that.
Can't go wrong with Shirihadori or Image.

One of the guys in the 4 hour compilation (I skimmed through it, honest) was in the middle of a speedrun of the original game when the news hit.

This could mean all sorts of things, not just Final Fantasy characters appearing in Street Fighter V.
But at this point, who even knows anymore. Square collaborating with Capcom in some capacity can lead to something potentially neat, so we'll see.

It was a chump port after a long drawn-out announcement that was seriously geared towards making everyone think it was a sequel. Then they claimed that there was "New content" which I think amounted to.....two screens? Something generally inconsequential like that. One of which was -another- tease for a sequel that is obviously not happening now.
Also I think the port broke sometime ago and they just delisted it instead of fixing it. Not super sure on that, though.
They supposedly just today fixed the iOS version to work in iOS8.

How well do the 4 work together for this kind of run? It's been a long time since I played FFV.
So, what do I do now? Go grind for a few hours to save up enough for a set of flare rings so my Black Mage can run some healing?
Honestly if square was going to lauch a collaboration to put ff characters in a fighting game I'd rather it be smash bros.
Ryu kind of holds the world record of being in the most crossovers of any videogame character ever. It's pretty inevitable that he would eventually meet up with an FF character or two.

Give your Dancer Equip Axes (unless you want to use the Chicken Knife with Dance, in which case use Animals or Black magic) and your Ranger Rapid Fire.
As for your Black Mage and Berserker? Well, there's always Equip ribbons. Status immunity is nice.

I just finished Mastering Elite Oilboyles and Elite Norg. Elite Oilboyles are the harder of the two bosses; Elite Norg is really just very tedious. What was your strategy/what gave you trouble?
For Elite Oilboyles, I found using either Silencega (or Aerith's Seal Evil Soulbreak) was immensely helpful. The Oilboyles can't counterattack when Silenced. So put one to Sleep, Silence the other one, and throw Firaja/Firaga/Fire Strike/Fira Strike at them. Use Power Break every other turn to keep their damage down (their basic melee hits fairly hard), and pack either Protectga or a Tyro Sentinel Grimoire Roaming Warrior. If Silence falls off, have Cloud put up Retaliate and bounce attacks off him, since Counterattack doesn't trigger Oil Blast. You might need to restart the fight once or twice until you manage to land Sleep and Silence at the beginning, but once you do the fight becomes MUCH more manageable.
Elite Norg, on the other hand, was a shit show. I was completely ill-prepared, but still managed somehow. I should have packed Magic Break instead of Power Break, since he cast more spells than not. I had Zealot Record Materia on Wakka, who auto-attacked every turn to keep the orbs blue. This trivialized one part of the fight. After that, Cloud and Squall kept up breaks and and auto-attacked. Vivi threw a few spells at Norg, then bounced attacks off Cloud's Retaliate. Garnet put up Protectga, which wasn't super helpful, and had a surprisingly high amount of healing to do, since Norg's spells hit for ~55-60% of any team members health, so everyone needed to be topped off at all times. It was just a slow grind through 100k hit points with Protect AND Shell up. I had Deprotega as my Friend Summon, which helped my damage output for 60s, but after that, it was grind through the Pod. Once the Pod opens though, Cloud and Wakka had Zantetsuken and Killer Bow equipped, so it was only a matter of time before the instant death ability triggered.
If I was going to do it over, I would put either Magic Break or Carbuncle in my ability list somewhere, and maybe move Boost off Wakka to Garnet, since Wakka had no time use abilities ever, unless I had someone else take over Orb duty for a turn. Still, Norg is much more manageable than Oilboyles.
If you just need cash, the dogs in the forest near Karnak are easy kills (especially if you have anything that can target all) and drop something like 750 GP a battle. Not a huge amount, but quick and easy and reliable. Alternately if you walk around Crescent Isle I think you can run into some slightly tougher enemies that have less cash but occasionally drop Doom Axes that sell for about 3000 a piece.

I think I finished the last boss with a Zantetsuken proc. It's as strong as a Galbadian Blade (even after RS), so it's definitely worth bringing.
Now you can farm Granaldo for 4x 4* orbs. What was your set up for the whole run?
Really feel like I shouldn't make this a habit though.
Let's see if I can remember...
- Cloud: Blizzara Strike, Retaliate
- Tidus: Double Cut, Intimidate
- Squall: Double Cut, Armor Break
- Vivi: Blizzaga, Firaja (plus Bard's RM2)
- Tyro: Curaga, Silence (plus Sentinel's Grimoire, and that RM that makes the SB bar charge faster)
I intended to bring a taunt RW, but ended up just taking a Sentinel's Grimoire. Bosses 1 and 3 deal a lot of single-target physical damage, boss 2 can be locked down with Intimidate (and has nasty counterattacks when not paralyzed), and boss 4 doesn't put out much damage, so tauntaliate seemed like the way to go.
// Switch: SW-5306-0651-6424 //
I would be down for either of those.
It may not be a high bar to climb but I'd sooner trust SE with storytelling than Capcom.
Also rather than FF, someone suggested Adam Jensen.
Sure, I guess.
