Tube or Icy, I've know we're not allowed to click reaction buttons in a staff-generated Announcement Thread that's been closed; however, I've noticed that the same rule doesn't apply for closed user-generated threads, presumably to let forumers catch up on their reading and such.
Did it take extra time/effort/coding to allow the forumers to have that privilege? Or is it that clicking buttons in staff thread somehow creates a problem?
The primary thing is that clicking awesome on the announcement that someone was banned is a shitty thing to do
I remember the one on SKFM that a bunch of people awesomed, and I remembered wanting to awesome it (but I didn't do it, because ElJeffe or someone got mad that people were awesoming it), but the reason I wanted to awesome it was because I agreed with (iirc) ElJeffe's assessment in the post, that people were treating SKFM badly and that having him banned was a loss to the forum overall. I remember other people said that they awesomed it for that reason as well, but of course it's not possible to know how many were in support of ElJeffe and how many were in support of banning SKFM.
See, this is why we need a sympathy button!

Going through the reports forum for juicy stuff would be possible but not really practical. You'd have to do a lot of searching, maybe export it into an xml.
hey so since this is the thread that the admins and the developer of the forum are reading... with relation to the multiposting announcement, there's another forum software that has an awesome feature for this
if it detects a multipost within x seconds (and no other replies), it will automatically fold that post up into an edit, which looks like this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/uvqMobA.png
It's actually incredibly convenient. This one picked up my second post even though I did it like a minute or two later, because nobody else posted
The problem with your memory is that it's not me you go off on, since I try to mostly avoid posting in the hub now. You're saying "God, just shut up" to pikachu13 who's never been here before and has no clue why you're being such a dick to him. And I guess for you that's an ok outcome, but it was you who said earlier that the thing that makes you particularly angry is people having thier bad day all over a new and enthusiastic poster who's just trying to participate. Maybe you could tone it down a notch.
You're the only person with this particular preoccupation. Regardless, the kind of people who show up in the hub to tiresomely harp on about minutiae are not the kind of users that I am desperate to attract and engage. User curation is a huge part of my job. This cover both ensuring that great users are made to feel welcome and ensuring that undesirable ones are not.
tldr; if a theoretical person is thinking "man, Tube is making me feel unwelcome", it is unlikely to be an accident.
Hah! Tube didn't contend with my level of forum addiction. I stayed anyway! (I hope I haven't been a really bad poster.)

Tube, how much of the forum policies are driven by Gabe and Tycho? and/or Khoo? do you and the mods have a lot of discretion in setting how the policies go?
Why is the only insult allowed in this forum involve us geese? Do you not recognize our noble heritage? You specieist silly ducks, do you not recognize the obvious superiority of geese over ducks? Zeus did not turn into so low a lifeform as a duck when he raped Leda! We belong in great fairy tales, ducks belong in stupid Disney cartoons. I demand that "silly goose" be abolished, lest I take legal action and my beak find your backsides!

Does this still bump the thread?
I know there have been a few cases where there was a new announcement for a game I was following, but the thread had fallen to page 4 or 5 so I go to make a new post so people will know about the announcement. Then in some cases I notice that I also happened to be the last person to post in the thread, so I'm technically multiposting even though it's a few days later. If this feature auto-incorporated my post into an edit, wouldn't that prevent people from seeing it since the thread would remain on page 4 or 5?
(Edit: Not a common occurrence, but it does happen for some of the smaller games. Also note that if I felt I was the only person really posting in the thread then I probably wouldn't bother posting whatever the new information was.)

Tube: Can/Would you delete the redirect threads for threads that were moved from the writer's block? It's a slow moving forum anyway, so it takes up a lot of clutter.

Please do not bump threads just for the sake of bumping threads. If there is new information you feel is relevant to potentially interested parties, then by all means post it, but if you make a post and find the thread falling to page 2 or 3 without anybody else adding to the discussion then there's just not enough interest to warrant the thread's survival.
Bumping for the sake of bumping a topic that you (and apparently only you, if it can't survive without the bumps) are interested in is not too far removed from spamming. The community decides what is interesting enough to keep afloat.
