I'm starting to see why we have the no Anime rule.
Like the fourth Anime related post in the netflix thread was about a penis tentacle harem episode.
I hold fast to my theory that lively and intrusive tentacles would disappear from all Japanese media as soon as they unblurred genitals in Japanese porn.
Oh yeah, I actually watched Smoke Signals on your recommendation sometime last year!
It's not on Danish Netflix either though, had to do some librarymancy to conjure it
I realize now that this project might be too hard given the apparently big differences between selection in US and Danish netflixes
yeah, you might want to get a proxy going or something... Netflix anywhere else in the world is kind of terrible in comparison.
It seems pretty good to me, in general. But I actually thought the differences weren't that big anymore. So that's interesting.
I should definitely look into proxy plugins or something, it's true. Used to use Hola, but stopped after the recent 'yeah so we're actually running a botnet with our users and renting it out' scandal.

I use CyberGhost whenever I hit a Youtube vid not available in my country or whatever, and it's pretty great! But I do have a sneaking suspicion my status as a free user means someone else is using my IP when I'm connected, doing all kinda nefarious shit with it...

speaking of netflix recommendations wasn't @y2jake215 asking for stuff in German? Neflix (at least Danish) has a miniseries called unsere mütter unsere väter about the aftermath of WWII in a German village that gets bisected by the border between East and West. It's pretty good, what little I watched anyway. Not the cheeriest story, though.
Other than that, comics are always really good for learning a foreign language. Most of my 10th grade German classes were spent reading the works of Ralf König, which...maybe you can find scans of them online? I'd be surprised if the paper version were readily available in the US. It's underground comics mostly about gay men and the gay social scene in Germany. Quite good.
