These FF tweets haaaave to be like an exaggeration. No one could write that in a script in the year of our lord 2015.

If that's the actual line...Oh my god. I might love this movie in the trainwreck sense.

    Well yeah.

But the Roger Corman movie didn't have lines that bad.

i mean we'll actually see when the embargoes are lifted, but I have to say that as much as I would be happy if it turned out to be a good movie, I am also happy that if it is bad, it is completely horrendously bad.

Like, I would prefer a super terrible F4 than a mediocre one. At least this one sounds like it will be hilarious.

I really hope it's just to sell them back this time, continually churning out crap for extensions can't be profitable, whereas I'm sure there will never be a better time to sell the rights back to the GIANT bank account that is Disney

Man. Actually if the Corman Dr. Doom proves to still be the best live-action Doom.

    Well shit.

The only positive review is essentially "Oh God, I just pity this fucking thing."

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Couldn't agree more - is it weird that it actually makes me a little excited for the movie? Before I was just "oh yeah that's a thing that's happening apparently."

That's cause Roger Corman actually cared about the property.

"A harmless and endearingly cartoonish throwback to more simple times" sounds like a stretch for a movie where Dr. Doom makes peoples heads explode.

If that Ben Grimm quote is true

    God damn

Turning a beloved line into the focal point of an abuse subplot

    Jesus

It does sound pretty made up, though

And you just know the screenwriter rocked and rolled excitedly in his chair when they came up with that one. "At true rock bottom will we find this character's depth"

I haven't seen any of his recent stuff, but Matthew Buck generally has a pretty good head on his shoulders, so I'm going to go out on a limb and believe him.

sadly most of the reviews that have come out make it out to be less hilariously bad and just plain bad

the consensus i'm seeing so far suggests it's nearly all setup with little to no payoff, heavy, heavy exposition dumps that aren't worked into the plot very well and drag the pacing of the already brief movie down a ton, and all of the actors are wasted in their roles. like, it's actually kinda crazy that i haven't seen any reviews single out any actors as "the bright spot" or anything like that. it's just miserable all around

I've never read in Morrison Batman (want to get round to it though) and I just got hold of a (used) copy of that book in particular it for free.
Is it good or to be avoided?

People are pretty divided on Morrison in general
    Bale doesn't like him
I haven't read RIP but I understand it's... well, about as Morrison as it gets

Batman RIP is a solid 'meh' comic book. Which is surprising for a Grant Morrison book.
Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader is good though.

    from the THR review:
Reed develops elastic, ever-stretchable limbs, and Johnny can turn into a flaming meteor, so count them lucky compared to Ben, whose new rocky body mass makes him a cousin of the Hulk with a more mottled complexion. And then there's Victor Von Doom, who must live up to his name by going over to the dark side. Sue is forced to stay home and must ultimately move among the other characters in a large, transparent bubble straight out of The Wizard of Oz.

Is Sue not even going on the mission true?

    From The Wrap's review.
They succeed at teleporting a chimp to the other dimension, known as “Planet Zero,” and back, but when Baxter higher-up Dr. Allen (Tim Blake Nelson) makes noises about handing the tech over to NASA, Victor, Johnny and Reed decide that they, and not some glory-hogging astronaut, should be the first to make the leap, and Reed insists that Ben join them.
So yes — Sue doesn’t even get to go in the spaceship this time.
    And from Screen Daily.
Explaining away their actions by making them drunk and immature — “they’re just kids” is a convenient excuse used a few times in the film — Trank finds a flimsy rationale for getting them into the teleportation machine, with Ben’s rash choice to come along just as ludicrous. Not surprisingly, things go awry as the unlikely astronauts get dosed with a strange energy force on the alien world, Victor seemingly killed in the process and left behind. (Sue, who didn’t know about the plan, gets zapped by this energy once they arrive back at Baxter Institute.)

Wait so their origin is now
that the boys get drunk and pissed that NASA wants their tech so they go explore on their own?

Oh my God that is so stupid
like, every other origin is about scientific discovery and the joy of exploration

But nope drunken testosterone fueled bullshit sure why not
