I guess I'm playing Danganronpa
So I got this game and the sequel during the PSN sale last week and now I'm a few hours in.
This game is WILD.
So I guess I'm gonna post my reactions to stuff as I go along.
Spoilers up through the end of the first trial:
I have to say, it shocked me when pop idol girl was wasted right off the bat. I kinda thought she would be built up as my number two/love interest for a while before being killed or becoming a killer during the later climactic parts of the story.
An even bigger twist that she ends up being the first one to decide to go all murderface.
However, Christ, it took me about five minutes into the trial to have it figured out that she was the one who had a murder plot going on, and having to slowly wait until everyone got to that conclusion was AGONIZING.
And then there were the numbers. It took like half a second to see that it was a name. The whole trial I kept wanting to yell at the screen "DIDN'T ANY OF YOU EVER WRITE BOOBS ON A CALCULATOR?!"
Oh also(endgame spoilers maybe?)
I have been spoiled that fashionista girl is a bad guy. The bad guy? I basically don't know anything beyond "she is an antagonist" so at least I'll get to enjoy learning the details. Sucks to know anything at all, but oh well.
Overall I'm digging the Ace Attorney meets Battle Royale thing they have going on.

If you hate it, blame the translator or yourself.
Also yeah, the game does a really good job of setting up character expectations and then smashing them into dust. Preeeetty cool approach through and through.
And that first trial is just sad, definitely. It gets better, but only the last few are very difficult or interesting.
The music is amazing.
What about God?
Can I blame God, or did the new localization remove that option?
Why I fear the ocean.
I just love that line so much and want to comment on it.
Thank you for your work good sir.
Did you also work on the sequel?
// Switch: SW-5306-0651-6424 //
also, I request to know who your favorite characters are
so I can see if you've chosen wisely
or if all of your faves are going to bite the dust
But everytime it comes up in conversation i'm reminded how much I really want/ed to play through them; I'm not necessarily saying someone should buy me both games but I'm not not saying that either
// Switch: SW-5306-0651-6424 //
that's like walking into a casino and not getting any chips
oh, it's possible. My favorite died in DR1, but the rest of the characters I liked made it
then DR2 came around
goodbye, favorite characters
But other than that it's a real good game

The localization seems really damn good so nice work!
Hmmm
Okay first of all fanfic writer is terrible and the worst and I want to fire him into the sun.
I like Hina and Sakura. Biker dude looks stupid but he's got a sort of Kanji quality to him that's starting to endear himself to me. The gothic gambler lady and the mysterious lady who I'm guessing is a detective or something both seem pretty cool.
I like the one in the second game who is fat
But I really like Hina and Sakura.
But I like to set the puzzle difficulty to the maximum so I don't have to choose between two obviously wrong Truth Bullets and one obviously correct one
Sadly, no. By the time we were ready to start on 2, I'd already been moved to another project and didn't have time in my schedule to do both
Which is a real bummer cuz 2 seems like it's even more batshit crazy, which would have been nice to work on.
And then the sequel somehow manages to make it even worse.
I've heard it's fun but has some unspecified skeevy moments (much like DR1, I guess). I'll pick it up no questions asked because I am a whore for this series.
I really want it for the story, but I dunno how good the gameplay is
Plus I don't like
(DR1 spoilers)
(Replying to DR1 spoilers)
I think what I liked most about her was that she was crazy in a way that made sense? Like it was never random bullshit craziness for the sake of being an insane edgelord; Jill just really enjoyed murdering people with scissors and the game played it completely straight.
Plus her voice acting and animations were excellent.
Really I can't wait for @LockedOnTarget to get to Dalek Roomba 2 (if you play and enjoy the first Dammit Rolex at all you will all but guaranteed like the sequel).
DR2 somehow manages to be three times as insane as the first game right from the outset and contains what is probably my favorite narrative trip in all of videogames.
Probably romance novelist lady too
Togami is a treasure and should be treated as such.
It's not so much that I don't like her, I guess, it's more that she's not my first choice when it comes to characters I really want to see more of. I'd rather see more Asahina or Kirigiri.
as for DR2, I've heard people say that they didn't like it as much as 1, but I thought it was way better
it's full of completely absurd, wonderful humor, but still tells a great story and has great character development.
The gameplay is serviceable, and from what I've seen of the story it's nutso in a pretty awesome way.
goodbye, 40 dollars
I barely knew you, but our time together was precious
2. Byakuya Togami
3. Toko/Jill
4. Kyouko Kirigiri
5. Ibuki Mioba
With honorable mentions to Hina, Sakura, and the babyface gangster Fuyuhiko.
Especially if all you saw was the anime. The adaptation really suffered from being condensed, so you'll probably enjoy the games more
I also might be biased from working on the original, but I really like how they transitioned from 2D to 3D. It's more dynamic but still retains all of that awesome vivid 2D coloring.

All I can say is
sigh
yeah, from what I know about the rest of the game that's the poorly done part of the game.
cis people should stop trying to write about gender
just... fucking stop
Twitch (I stream most days of the week)
Twitter (mean leftist discourse)
I watched an anime recently that actually handled this pretty well though. The character just felt more comfortable dressing as a woman but still identifies as male and was treated very poorly by his peers when he decided to try and go out in public. He becomes a shut in and stops going to school. Then the main cast basically accepts him as is and in fact encourage him and his lifestyle . It was refreshing and I think a sign that things are changing .
The actual show is kinda crappy though.
I didn't like the second case very much. For a lot of reasons.
And then were 100% off in every possible way
