The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Essentially, it's an openworld Mad Max game with Arkham style combat and a ridiculous amount of car customization where you fight a man named Scabrous Scrotus to get your V8 Interceptor back so that you can escape the Wasteland for the next Wasteland over. In short, it's perfect.

And no, it's not a movie tie-in, it's been in development since 2012, but contains some connections and shout outs to Fury Road and the other Mad Max films.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this thing! The gameplay videos look like a lot of fun, and the developer has a lot of experience creating fun open-world mayhem systems (the Just Cause series) which sounds like what you want in a Mad Max game.
I will definitely be waiting for reviews though, especially as a PC user and after Warner Bros' last attempt at publishing a PC game went so historically awry. Fingers crossed that this turns out well.

Open world Mad Max game made by the Just Cause 2 team? Fuck yeah!
The game isn't Mad Max: Fury Road: The Game either so that makes me feel much more confident about it.
From what I heard they got a lot of advice/help from George Miller when it came to designing how everything is supposed to look in the Mad Max universe. Costumes, vehicles, camps, etc. Unsurprisingly he had no shortage of concept art to share.
Just Cause 3 is actually being made by a new team so luckily it's not like the Just Cause 2 guys are being split between two projects.
Axen on
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
Did they ever fix their last game for PC? Batman right?
Not yet! It was pulled from the market and is getting a pretty extensive rework.
To be fair, Warners Bros. is just the common publisher; none of the people responsible for the specific 1's and 0's that made Arkham Knight so terrible are putting down any of the 1's and 0's in this game. That said, WB has money in the game, and has most of the say on whether to ship a product or delay it so I'm more than comfortable holding them to a particularly rigorous standard from now on.

I wonder how much this game will suffer from people think it's simply a movie tie-in. I know I quickly assumed that before looking into it and seeing it's a game made by a dev that made a game I loved and is also a game that looks to be made with a lot of love and care for the source material.
I'm also looking forward to it, the car combat looks fun, can take or leave the arkham style punch-ups though, I just want to hoon around the desert to the sound of loud engines and explosions.
This looks great and I'm still pumped up beyond belief from Fury Road, but it launches the same day as MGSV... Maybe it'll end up in one of those crazy year-end holiday sales for a sweet price!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

And they both release on my one night off work. I'm gonna have an agonising night of indecision. That or I'll sleep through.
Apparently(according to the devs), the map in the game has no boundries. You can drive off in a random direction and just keep going until you get bored or killed.

So as I'm sure many have mentioned, this releasing at the EXACT same time as MGS5 (seriously, they're both unlocking at midnight eastern) is such a bummer. I expected MGS4 to be the last MGS, so I've been looking forward to Phantom Pain for ages and am fanboy level excited. This game looks like just a lot of straight up no-nonsense fun like Just Cause 2 was, though, and I'm excited to play it.
also helps that I read that Avalanche did their port in-house and didn't outsource it like Rocksteady did. They did great work with Just Cause 2 and its optimization.
Are you the magic man?

I've got the house to myself, a fridge full of beer, and this game waiting for me.
I'm still on the fence buying it now though cause the only time I'd be able to play it was after the kids have gone to bed and I kinda wanna see what the reviews look like as well.
Bought this on my bone digital preorder, should unlock sometime during the night and through happenstance I have tomorrow off. WOO TIME TO SHINY AND CHROME!
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

I actually bought this instead of MGS5 for my game purchase of the week. It's sales are going to get swallowed alive by MGS5's though.

Oh yeah, unfortunately it's getting swallowed whole which is a shame. MGS5 is an absolute machine.
Yeah, I might be the ideal target demographic for this game, as I have never enjoyed a Metal Gear Solid game and The Road Warrior has been one of my favorite movies since I was 12 years old.
Right now I'm hoping this is comparable to Shadows Of Mordor in the "licensed game that is actually really good and keeps selling due to word of mouth".
Has the same look and the dudes you are killing look like warboys. Sure its not Fury Road the game, but visually it looks very much in the same wheel house as Fury Road.
Including that the game will make you play a female character the whole time and max just sits back and misses things he's shooting at.

Game runs REALLY well on PC. Like only Alien Isolation of recent big budget AAA releases has run better for me, and that game had an incredible PC version (aside from the shitty FMVs).

At 40% off I picked this up.
It's not likely that I'll have much time for it before Phantom Pain is all said and done, but it looks super fun.

I just loaded it up and the video settings are what you want out of a PC game, even has a refresh rate setting.

Most of the gameplay videos have been for the PS4, not sure if that's the lead system or if lead systems are still a thing.

So was the review embargo tailored so PS4 reviews would be out first? Seems weird.
