Yeah, on further thought I think this is correct. Saccing the creature would put Abomination on top of the stack before Leap would start to resolve at all.

Y'know... If you have six hours and five minutes to spare
I was hoping you were exaggerating, but nope. It really is six hours and five minutes.
Well....I want to win packs Friday night, so down the rabbit hole I go.....

Event decklist is up - it's a GB sacrifice deck, with some pretty impressive value:
Warden of the First Tree
Grim Haruspex
Smothering Abomination
Whisperwood Elemental
Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Hangarback Walker
Brood Butcher
Evolutionary Leap
Corpseweft
Llanowar Wastes
Of course this info drops a few days after I finish buying my playset of Walkers. Oh well, thems the breaks.
I'm legit surprised they haven't gone for another ice block yet and I would actually love that, especially if the shift from Zendikar was to some barren, frozen world that also had Snow Lands oh and maybe dinosaurs.
I'm guessing you weren't around for the shit sandwich known as Coldsnap? Probably the third worst limited format since limited was a thing and sales were pretty terrible if I recall.

I know the fashion now is to hate on LSV for his awful jokes, but as a dad who hopes to get his kid into magic in a few years, I sympathize with his "dad" jokes. I also think he does have better insights in general than Marshall, especially when it comes to build around cards and combat tricks, he just takes a fucking long time to get there.
The other thing I really appreciate about him is the level of respect he gives to his opponents on streaming, even when they do something foolish or suboptimal. He might chuckle and make light of it, but he gives them the benefit of the doubt rather than shaming them like an Owen.
...sorry, my phone sometimes autocorrects "asshole".

After this and the clash pack, I feel like Abzan dominating standard for the past year may have been purposeful.

Oh thank god
I was begining to thjnk I was the only one here who likes LSV.
I mean his commitment to awful Puns is... a thing. But I do think his insights are legit and he teaches well. Like I've learned a lot from him - both via LR and his other content.
And at least he clearly cares deeply about the community which is more than a lot of magic pros. I can't speak much to the SCG folks, since they stick all their good content behind a paywall that I refuse to pay for.

The best two commentating pairs are LSV/Marshall and Cedric/Sullivan (though, Cedric/Sully is probably best). I also like puns, so I find his puns amusing instead of distracting.
I dunno if three or so people saying they don't think lsv is funny constitutes "the fashion"
No it is in fact, the fall fashion
nope lsv is great and his dumb puns are great
limited resources is just...
not good
I FUNDEMENTALLY disagree with LR not being good.
I've only been playing Limited a little while and LR has improved my play and card evaluation A LOT.

messing around with an idea for a BFZ abzan rally deck, I can't get it to quite do what I want but jamming a siege rhino in there definitely made it better
Playing against housemate last night, he dropped a managorger hydra and was surprised that I didn't give a shit. So I just kept parking scions in front of it and leaping them into good cards.
Let the thing grow to some fucking ridiculous number, then he attacks with it yet again and I go 'block with this scion' and he goes 'HAHAHA YOU DONT HAVE GREEN UP TO LEAP, TAKE 8 BILLION TRAMPLE DAMAGE'
And I go, 'sac scion for mana' and then he picked up his cards and called the deck bullshit

So you can play with your expeditions if you open them in your sealed/draft and if you are also a crazy person.
Gotta bring sleeves dawg
Keep it nm, get that broken fixing value, and then sell it after you for 0-2 drop

Re Whisperwood in Aristocrats, I like it in my pre-BFZ version; the manifests are all nontoken, and it has a built in sac outlet if I need to flip Lily, and the sac effect is great, especially if you're about to fire off a Tragic Arrogance.

Kothophed and Talent of the Telepath are also interesting cards that just haven't found a home yet imo
A list of things, should you be of the gifting persuasion

so i guess elsewhere and in standard it might be a card for a very specific battleplan
