Superhero movies! They draw inspiration from comic books except when they're too serious and grown-up to do that. Sometimes, comic books draw inspiration from them! Or in the case of Greg Land, just draw from them. From them if we're lucky.

There are a bunch coming out next year:

Deadpool - February 12

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25

Captain America: Civil War - May 6

X-Men: Apocalypse: May 27

Suicide Squad - August 5

Gambit - October 7

If the Suicide Squad trailer had resembled that cover, I would have already bought tickets.

Also, that's a great Dr. Strange issue. He fights a bunch of demons over Stonehenge, then murders and blows up a living Lovecraftian horror planet in that one.

Classic Dr. Strange often seemed to approach problems with the basic procedure of "Can I blow it up: yes/no?"

So what are the Battleworld titles I should check out in trade format? I've got Civil War, Weirdworld, Ultimate End, Little X-men vs Avengers, Old Man Logan, and Siege in singles.

What ended up happening with Hickman's SHIELD and Leonardo?

The last two issues will be released after Secret Wars.
There were Marvel novels back in the late 90s, seems about time for them to try it again.

They've been putting out new Novels for a little while now. (Rocket & Groot: Steal the Galaxy, Avengers: Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Ant-Man: Natural Enemies, Deadpool: Paws)

Secret Wars 7 is still being listed coming out November 11th so that's a good sign it won't be delayed. However the last Ultimate End issue is now coming out December.

What the fuck is going on with that book?

    Ultimate End is absolutely done

It almost certainly just hinges on an event in Secret Wars that hasn't happened so whenever SW gets delayed they have to push Ultimate End back too

    Secret Wars/Ultimate End spoilers/speculation
Isn't the raft survivor Miles supposed to show up in Ultimate End at some point? I imagine they need to get to whatever event in Secret Wars that sends miles to Manhatten.

    Yup
The final page of the last issue had the two factions about to go to war with each other right as Miles swings in to save the day.

It was a Marvel thing, mainly. Part of their appeal was their editorial stuff treating the readers as equals. Kind of a light, jokey style like where the no-prize came from.

So that "Peel the Orange" website that was claiming the Iron Fist Netflix series was being replaced by a Punisher Netflix series is now claiming that Iron Fist will instead become a made-for-Netflix movie, giving it an increased budget and more development time.

Another one for the rumor spreadsheet.

Clay Mann posted a sketch of a cover for something he calls "Guardians vs. X-Men". I'm not sure if he's mistaken in naming it, but I've never seen the cover before, and I'm pretty sure "Guardians vs. X-Men" doesn't exist... yet.

Jessica Jones episode descriptions are up on Netflix

They are somewhat spoilery, depending on what you consider a spoiler. Since they all lack context though, the only one that's really big in my mind is the finale description, and even that could mean a few different things, as the article points out
They do point out it might not be referring to Daredevil, but instead Hellcat. Could also be Iron Fist, I guess. Maybe even someone else

Too bad they changed one of the titles from "Jewel and Power Man." I remember really liking that one when the old title list leaked

I don't really like the AKA thing at all, especially now that they dropped it from the series title

It feels a bit like a knockoff Preacher. It's similar but the characters and the plot look different.

  • wirehead26wirehead26 Registered User regular
I hope they keep the SoK first appearance mostly unchanged from the comic
    I'm paraphrasing here:

Cop: "Looks like we have an asshole who thinks he can carry guns around in plain sight in my town. You know who I am boy?"

SoK: "I reckon you look like a guy who won't be taken em from me."

I butchered that quote I know.

Assuming Preacher actually works and they keep going, the one and only thing I really want is a
mid-season break run of episodes that does the Saint of Killers origin mini. Maybe do the Herr Starr origin story at the same time. Hilarious as it would be, I could live without the Jody and T.C. vs. Saddam Hussein, although I have to say Seth Rogen might be the perfect person to realize that particular story. Arseface's mini was just boring, they could pretty easily roll that into a regular episode or two.

Lookin to add something to my RSS feed for comic news. Primarily movie & TV announcements, but maybe even new series, etc.

Had SuperHeroHype on there, but the amount of fluff pieces and cosplay coverage outweighs the actual news, and I'd like something more focused in my feed.

    Suggestions?

I'm liking the costume a lot more with the coloring and art style it was intended to be shown in

The art is really reminiscent of Ye Olde Frank Miller and Born Again Era JRJR, I personally dig it a bunch
