Yep, I'm buying trades of that ASAP

Holy shit the stuff with Billy

I was really, really into GI Joe from age 4 to 13. I was born 1984 and the first thing I remember reading in my own was a G I Joe comic.

There's only 9 issues so far so both trades will get you 100% up to date on the glory.

That was sure....a thing I guess.
I'm half way through the trade at the moment (currently up to the map/list of alternate worlds). But I'm holding off on judging it until I've finished it. What the heck, one half-baked opinion, I think it's got a bunch of fun alternate universe stories but I don't think it's going to bring them all together in a satisfactory way.

so a comment on a Kotaku article about Ultimate End #5 pointed out something that I can't believe I never noticed before, and it had me scrambling to check old Ultimate trades to confirm

you see, ever since the 3rd trade of Ultimate Spider-Man, all Ultimate books have had their text written with lower-case letters, to contrast the standard 616 all-caps lettering. I didn't even notice, but this was continued through Ultimate End and the Secret Wars mini, with characters from each universe speaking in their appropriate letter-case.

    (Ultimate End #5 spoilers)
Which makes this the official moment that Miles has officially crossed over:
    dhcytcwyul9wp7xxwlde.png
as he is speaking in 616 caps.

    http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/captain-america-gets-75th-anniversary-special-on-abc-in-january
Captain America will celebrate his 75th anniversary in style: ABC will air the "Marvel's Captain America: 75 Heroic Years" one-hour special on Tuesday, Jan. 19, celebrating Marvel Comics' patriotic icon right before the "Marvel's Agent Carter" second season premiere. Along with toasting Cap, the special is also promised to include "an exclusive announcement from Marvel Comics."

Here's the official description of the special: "This special one-hour event follows the history of Captain America from 1941 to present and explores how the character has been a reflection of the changing times and the world he has existed in throughout the years. Fans will hear from various Marvel luminaries including Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Jeph Loeb, Louis D’Esposito, Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, as well as family members of Cap’s creators. 'Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years' will also unveil an exclusive announcement from Marvel Comics."

I'm wondering what the announcement could be that isn't "Steve regains his super-soldier serum". Not that he'll take back the Captain America title because we just had that discussion, but I'm drawing a blank on alternatives.

Could be a lot of things

New Captain America title, New super star miniseries on a Steve Rogers miniseries, New Avengers team, something Civil War 2 related, etc.

I doubt it is Steve reclaiming the mantle though

The Sam Wilson Captain America book is already down at #78 on the sales charts with only its third issue, which is why you haven't seen any articles comparing his sales to Steve Rogers, like you did with the female Thor. Of course, the sales on all of Marvel's non Star Wars books sink like a stone after their first/second issue these days, which is why they renumber half the line every five minutes, even though that only makes the problem worse in the long run. Not that his sales matter - Steve Rogers was always coming back as Cap in time for his next movie, and I have no idea why anyone ever thought otherwise.

    Okay
    but which Ra's?

    I'm okay with this.
Ra's was honestly one of the few things not terrible about S3.

The plot was a mess, but Ra's was fun.

And then he got replaced with Merlyn. Bleugh.

That guy's in the wrong show. He should be in Gotham.

I'm okay with it as long as it's time travel related and not a resurrection.

Seeing past-Ra's interact with Vandal Savage and/or Damian Darhk (who's confirmed to make an appearance on the show) could be a lot of fun

My issue with Merlyn is he seems more like a plot device than a character lately. Every now and then he appears from the shadows, is a bit of a dick to Ollie and/or Thea, and then disappears again. They need to establish his story as the new Ra's, what his goals are with the league, etc. Which is the problem they had with the old Ra's, too.

While people aren't necessarily wrong to be disappointed at Steve Rogers coming back as (a) Captain America because of what it means for the visibility of their push for diversity

Those feelings are also at odds with the fact that Steve Rogers is one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time, kind of like how I felt when they announced that Parker would still be a Spider-Man

Reading through Moon Knight Epic Collection 2, and in an editorial, they mention there was a Moon Knight tv series in Japan. Does anyone have more info on that? I tried doing a search, but the only thing I could find is an old tv show from the 50's called Moonlight Mask.

It's a Silver Title so that could be a lot of shit, a couple years ago they had a Cap/Thor all ages book and after that an Avengers reprint in that slot

I very much doubt they bring Steve back into the mantle, even if Sam also has it, because Sam has yet to get a solid 12 issue run of either of his solo books, his relaunch title has been widely acclaimed and is successful and that book comes out in May which is also when Civil War 2 starts and we know that Sam will have the shield in that, if not be a central character.

Like, Steve will absolutely get that shield back eventually but forcing it to tie into the movie would be really rushed and shitty and while Marvel does absolutely aim for movie/comics synergy they typically do not do it at the cost of the comics themselves.

Honestly I doubt they would get him for it

If they did an Infinity Gauntlet 2 they would make it a huge event and they would probably want someone who writes a little more...modern than Starlin.
