Vapor doesn't contain tobacco.

But, the mist is not actually water vapor at all. It's propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. You can get flavorless, nicoteenless that just has one of those and water, but it's still not going to be good for your lungs in the long run.

Speaking as someone who doesn't vape,

there is a lot of ignorance about vaping in this thread

For a start, I'll address the big one:

"There is a chemical in vapor that causes popcorn lung." Yes, this is correct, but the same chemical is present in cigarette smoke at 100 times the concentration. Only one consumer has ever presented with symptoms known to be caused by diacetyl and it was from inhaling the smoke from microwaving popcorn.

Don't get me wrong, eliquid producers should be making sure there's no diacetyl in their product, but you would probably have to vape hard 24 hours a day for 50 years to get enough exposure to even begin showing symptoms. It is media sensationalism.

There's this chain of places called Freebirds here in Texas (I think they're just around here and California) where you get these giant, custom made burritos. Like Chipotle I believe. Their gimmick is having biker/tattoo/etc. kinda stuff all over the place. And almost every employee is covered in piercings and tattoos (I'm guessing it's not that they only hire people with them, but that most of them that are looking for these types of jobs can only get hired there and know to seek them out).

Every single one is right next door to a vaping/hydroponics place. It is hilarious to me every single time I find a new pair.

My main exposure to vaping was one boardgame night where a guy was there vaping almost non-stop.

It didn't smell of anything to me. Either he was using odourless liquid or I'm bad at smells.

Either way, he wasn't being a douche about it.

I've been incredibly lucky in my life so far in that I've known very few douchebags. I guess they're all being saved up for the next 30 years.

I gotta dig through Google, but I remember reading an article about how most of the flavoring additives and the like used in vape liquid are food safe, but that there aren't studies on the long term effects of inhaling them.

I vape a very strong mint liquid out of my EVOD 2 hooked up to a Spinner II. I always use 1.8om atomizers and have the spinner set to around 4.3V.

I did a very chill Dr. Pepper Strawberry mixture for a while, but to quit I needed that menthol.

I have no idea what any of the terminology is when it comes to vaping. All I know is I put liquid in this thing, replace that thing every once in a while, and hook it up to my battery. Oh, and clean everything often.

You don't really need to know what the lingo means, you just need to know what you like.

Here's another misconception: MOST eliquid doesn't have any nicotine in it at all! Eliquid containing nicotine is illegal in Canada and several other countries where vaping is popular.

A huge amount of addiction is based on the act itself. Vaping with nicotine free liquid is still putting something to your lips, inhaling and exhaling a big plume. The act itself is comforting.

I really need to quit smoking, and getting one of these things would probably help with that, but the people that work and hang out in the vape shop look even shadier than I do so I never go in.
