My first game of stellaris came to an abrupt end when a civ with more military resources declared war on me and kept pace with my production of new ships. I almost got a white peace by yolo smashing some mining bases up but was just short then got earth blasted.

I feel like my life has a stellar is shaped hole but it seems I'll advised to buy a new laptop when were trying to buy a hoose.
I am running it on a 5,5 year old shoebox, might be worth a shot even if you have an old computer.
interesting
I think first or second gen low tier i5, 460, and whatever amount of ram probably 8? I think I put another stick in at some point.
I don't speak graphics card specs. Is it essentially able to run on an etch a sketch?
Eeeh probably not, there's still 3D objects and effects and stuff. The 460 is probably 6 or 7 year old tech though and I have 768 VRAM which wasn't a lot even when I bought it.

The fallen empire I found looks really cool. Like I went into a, to me, unexplored system. And there I find a half derelict dyson ring encircled by debris hugging around a dim and fading star. No other planetary bodies in the system, all probably consumed to build the ringworld. Just one section of the ring still inhabited by descendants of the once great empire. Looked pretty profound.
basically don't let policy be driven by tabloid stories or the kind of voters that get their news and views from tabloid stories
ever
But their votes are so tasty and pile up so nicely.
as a leftist I will do everything in my power to avoid having broad popular support
The important thing isn't to win power and make people's lives better, it's to sit back smugly at the local meeting of the Socialist Worker's Party And Funtime Club and know you were in the right.

I am genuinely shocked to see Disney Infinity discontinued. I thought that thing printed money.
I'm sure the minis will still hold value to the people who played the game, but that was a very expensive game that has had the plug pulled on it... I wonder how fans of the game are taking this news.

Ooh, I wonder if this will drop the price of those minis. I've always wanted to grab a few, they're really well done, but a bit expensive for a desk toy.

That is unexpected. Although my exposure to it has been limited to "Tesco have three sections for games: ps4, Xbox and Disney Infinity"

Also I think it's weird that they don't keep the division and try something else. Disney profits so so much from all other forms of media it seems very shortsighted to just say "fuck video games tho".
They could have carried that division for a long time and tried many things.

I imagine calmly, reasonably and with an awareness of how, in the greater scheme of things, it's just a game and doesn't matter as much as family and friendships.
You know, the way gamers always react to bad news.
"After a thorough evaluation, we have modified our approach to console gaming and will transition exclusively to a licensing model," he said. "This shift in strategy means we will cease production of Disney Infinity, where the lack of growth in the toys-to-life market, coupled with high development costs, has created a challenging business model. This means that we will be shutting down Avalanche, our internal studio that developed the game. This was a difficult decision that we did not take lightly given the quality of Disney Infinity and its many passionate fans."
...
For its part, Activision has also said that its toys-to-life game, Skylanders, is underperforming.
my guess - too expensive to take off at a quality point tolerable for the brand
The closing of the Infinity game unit, part of the company’s consumer division, resulted in a $147 million expense as Disney wrote off its investment in the business and recorded costs for job cuts. Infinity combined computer or console game play with collectible figurines. The closing marks a retreat from the company’s efforts to make console games on its own.
Iger said on the call with investors that he lost confidence in the video-game business. The division has two more games to release this month and in June.
Infinity did well at first, Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger said on a conference call Tuesday. The game helped lift Disney’s interactive unit to its first annual profit of $116 million in 2014. But making and distributing toys and video-game equipment proved costly, Iger said, and the risk of getting stuck with unsold inventory is high.
“We did quite well with the first iteration of it, and we did OK with the second
iteration,” Iger said. “But that business is a changing business, and we did not have enough confidence in the business in terms of it being stable enough to stay in it from a self-publishing perspective.”
..
“Losing a developer with the pedigree of Avalanche is certainly a big deal,” Andy McNamara, editor-in-chief of Gameinformer, said in an e-mail. “Larger traditional media companies have generally had trouble understanding the business and how to support and execute games, so falling back to licensing is ultimately a good move.”

England, stay away from the kitchen- Australia, the sheep etc
Wait, do NZ and Aus both accuse the other of fucking sheep
It applies to NZ because they have the highest number of ships per capita. We don't have as many ships in straya. I believe the appropriate comparison is that Australians aren't to be trusted around a silken handkerchief
high risk of not being striking the Angry Flappy Bird goldminecraft and thereby not raking in the ginormous profit
not very much appetite for high-dollar risky investments
The market has also been kind-of skittish about vidya in some circles (Konami, Ubisoft at least some divisions of Squeenix), so that might have influenced the decision as well.
Get out while the gettin' is still good if you think the toy + digital thing actually might be just a fad that's about to pass.
With Love and Courage

but then one asks, okay, then why should Disney be doing it
is it a big stick

But Frozen, Star Wars Ep 7, Guardians of the Galaxy, Civil War...
I also heard that Zootpoia was rull gud.

Well Frozen was Greta and I would be surprised if Civil War was any better than Winter Soldier which was also garbo.
However, yes, sacrifices are to be made
