I've been saying it for years, people should not be able to go out and put together the same kit I was issued with to fight in a war. Shit at this point I just want to post the opening to Lethal Weapon 3 but obviously some people identify with the wrong side of that scene.

I don't live anywhere near where this happened so I'm not super worried about my own safety wrt this
Found out this morning that a close friend of mine was at the protest; as soon as the shots started, he managed to get himself and a few others to the apartment of yet another friend. Glad they're safe; I'm going to give him the biggest hug when I see him again.
You know it was sad that at the time of the Orlando shooting someone said that "this shooting won't be the one people remember we are do for at least 2 to 3 more before election day" and they weren't wrong.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
This fucking sucks, and all I can think about is if there's going to be another act of gun violence today since it seems to never stop.
With the kind of gun saturation there is in the US, it won't.

Getting back to this for a moment.
One of the reasons people go to the "Atleast she's not Trump", is that Hillary has been running with quite liberal and progressive platform, largely separated from Bernie's only inthat it is nuanced, more reasoned, and maybe even acchievable.
So, given that she is already running as a liberal progressive, and those who complain about her seem to have decided that she is clearly lying and just waiting to invade Iran the second she is nominated (hyperbole, but not as much as i'd like).
What argument do you go for?
Her platform is of limits, her history is not immaculately white (and neither is Bernie's, but that seems to get lost a lot), and she's made mistakes (and is never, ever, forgiven for any of them).
She may not be perfect, people may have decided that anything in her platform is a lie.
But dammit, she's not Trump.

The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter. He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people the suspect said he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.
So apparently the officer who shot the man in Falcon Heights, MN had some sort of voice recording system on him and he's recorded saying the reason he pulls the guy over ISN'T for a taillight, he says" He looks like a robbery suspect because of the wide-set nose" and that as soon as the officer is told he had a concealed weapon he was instantly shot.

So they used what was presumably a bomb disposal robot to plant and detonate and explosive devise after exchanging gunfire with the suspect and after talks with the hostage negotiator (there were no hostages, they just used one for this) did not yield a peaceful outcome
I don't think I have ever heard of the police using an explosive like that, and it's a little scary that they did..lout it is also expected and understandable given the situation and the tools they apparently had at their disposal.
Oh, and the suspect told the negotiator that he was not affiliated with any group and that he wanted to kill white people and white officers especially. Though I agree with the police representative that trying to get into the head of this guy is not a useful endeavor.
