My favourite fact about his character is that in order to get back into the Centauri accent Peter Jurasik just used to say "Mr Garibaldi!"

Oh man that sucks, even if I disagreed with Jerry politically it's a shame he passed away so young.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Garibaldi, Sinclair, G'Kar, Dr Franklin, Zack.

The rate of attrition is horrendous for B5 alumni.

    NO!

    NO!

Republican he might have been but he hated Trump so at least he wasn't insane.

    Goddamn you 2016.

It's horrific how much of the cast has passed away. Michael O'Hare, Richard Biggs, Andreas Katsulas, Jeff Conway and now Jerry. It's not like the show was even that long ago.

    seriously

between 2016 and 2015 like half my childhood is dead.

I want to say Jeff Conway had a drug problem (I remember that I swear) Katsulas and Biggs I think was cancer, Don't remember what killed O'hare though he was not mentally stable even back then.

The B5 curse teams up with the ravenous maw that is 2016 to destroy another part of my soul.

It's true that all of them had pre-existing health issues with the exception of Biggs whose death was very sudden, but if you compare it to Deep Space 9, which aired around the same time, it really drives home how the cast has been gutted in the years since.

Clearly Dr. Bashir was just better at his job, and more ruggedly handsome. Hell he expanded the cast with Major Kira...

Jokes aside probably a lot of actors from our youth will be passing away due to a variety of things.

Yeah, but Bashir had an unfair advantage, what with the genetic experimentation and all.

I remember reading in an interview that his father was a NYPD cop that died at age 50 of a heart attack.

If it was that it was probably hereditary.

Damn Shame about his loss though.

B5 was his only real hit, mostly by choice as he went into talk radio afterwards.

Hey, I also liked him in Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys.

Aw man. The three way play between G'kar, Londo, and Garibaldi were always the best part of B5. I'm really upset. :(

It's true about Jeff Conaway, and really fucked up. He was one of the stars of the first season of Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew and it was genuinely gutting to watch. The story he told everyone was that he'd taken a bad fall while dancing on stage years ago and that got him started on being addicted to percocets and oxys and so forth but Drew kept kind of chipping away at his story and his medical history and it eventually came out that Conaway had been a victim of child pornographers and to try and cope had been on one drug or another basically since he was a teenager.

I also get him confused with Hugh O'Connor because they both look incredibly similar. Despite Hugh dying twenty years ago.

Didn't realise there was a thread for this. His co-star and ex-wife, Andrea Thompson (Talia Winters) has in the last few days been posting pictures of them taken during their time together, on her FB feed. She's understandably devastated.

    Goddamnit.

I believe Tim Choate (Zathras) passed away some time ago too. 2004 according to IMDB.

You know it fits that Zathras would die years before people noticed.

    At least there is symmetry.

Just found out about this today eating lunch with a co-worker and we were talking about the show. He wasn't aware of any of the other cast members passing and started going through IMDB. I was kind of shocked when he said Jerry Doyle. I said "no way", and then he showed me the date on his phone. Was instantly bummed.

My wife has suggested that we do a show rewatch again sometime soon. It's been about a decade so yeah, it's probably time.

Then some guy was yelling at me for not going through a red light when I was going straight and he was turning right. Rest of the day just ruined.

(also, who uses comic sans on their phone?)

I only watched B5 for the first time about 6 months ago.

"Mr. Garibaldi" is stuck in my head forever thanks it it. He will be missed.

Also, it's eerie having now watched a recent show with half the main cast dead in reality.

A rewatch sounds good. I don't think I've watched it in a few years at this point...

When the first season did a story about him falling off the wagon it was a godawful mess with some of the worst drunk acting ever captured on film. When they did the same thing in the fifth season it was pretty good, understated and had no embarrassing drunk acting of any kind, so good job, Jerry Doyle.
