africa accounts for lot of the population growth projections, and I sorta wonder whether there'll be a good few more major african wars before the dust settles, on a Wars of Religion level of death toll

if base building in ARK wasn't awful it would be my favorite game
building shit in space engineers is so easy because I can do it in creative (where you can do mirroring and draw planes or lines of blocks) and save the blueprint, and then to build it in survival I just have to shit resources into the blueprint until it's finished

Good lord, could you imagine how many economic migrants we would have to ignore?
the earth can probably support 11-12 billion people uncomfortably
12+ billion if we go vegetarian
I think there's going to be a big move to vertically built hydroponic farming methods in the near future
Yeah the 10 billion carrying capacity estimations are on current arable lands and not like developing more arable land, or technology like hydroponics.
It's going to be painful.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

So the town of Amatrice, Italy doesn't exist anymore after this mornings earthquake.
This wonderful town is the home of a staple Italian dish
[Pasta of Choice] all'Amatriciana (Usually Spaghetti or Bucatini)
Traditionally Amatriciana is made with Tomato, guanciale (pork jowl), and pecorino cheese. Often a combination of Chili, Black Pepper, Onion, and Garlic are used.
It's beautiful
God rest, ye ancient town of good eats.
You will be be missed.
although at this rate everything's going extinct except tiny colonies of humans sustained by dwindling technology since all the oxygen will be gone in 75 years

I wouldn't think we're doomed on that timescale, but I don't think there's any reason to be too optimistic either.
It's not like any country has been trying especially hard to mitigate problems already. They meet up and occupy a city every couple years, then sit around in a circle and jerk eachother off and pat eachothers backs at a press conference.
Feels to me like an incredibly huge catastrophe is what it's going to take before anyone tries. Like a billion people migration, massive starvation in the west or something similar.
In 2050 I will be 75, so I'll be long past caring what happens to anyone else. As long as it all holds together long enough to see me buried after dying happily of old age I don't care if you all die of boneitis.

Basically you'll be the head of your local Republicans group.
Here's my for real prediction: Things will gradually get worse until enough boomers die to cause a radical shift in western politics and then we do stuff about stuff

We seem to be terrible at long-term planning for stuff, so yeah, a cataclysm or something would get us concentrated and pointing in the same direction, survival-wise.
Or, you know, we amble along stupidly to a slow decline and eventual extinction. Either is fine with me.
Spent my first night really alone in the house last night.
Wife is gone, cats are gone. It was just me. It wasn't neat or interestingly different. Just depressing. I'm not doing too good with this situation right now.
I'm having to work really hard not to just cancel absolutely every social thing I have for the next month and call it quits till I pull out of this funk.
I will log in tonight and entertain you with my super salty healer mode.
Also booping.
Mainly booping.
Bless your heart.

hey chat have you seen how bad Sausage Party looks, man what a stink-
The bigger problem is water but there are ways, expensive ways, we can probably work around that.
Also to tell the truth that number is way lower than we thought it would be in 1980 or 1990 or even 10 years ago. Population growth overall is leveling out.
The world produces more than enough food to feed everyone, distribution is the issue. So yay green revolution.
You been in a funk recently bro. World might not be some utopia but we ain't going to be totally fucked.

I watched Sausage Party and thought it was pretty great actually!
