Speaking of Early Access, Planet Explorers has just launched out of it.
Has anyone played this? It looks awesome, but I've been burnt before....
I'm totally in the mood to build bases and junk though.
I played a demo of it a couple of years ago. Very, very early days. It ran terribly at the time, but could see that it had oodles of potential, so kept an eye on it. I'd imagine a couple of years of development has done wonders!
Edit: Vague TOTP post, so we're talking about Planet Explorers, a sandboxy, adventurey, open-world, buildy, explorey, RPG concoction that has just popped out of Early Access.

I played an alpha/beta abut 1.5 years ago and it was pretty solid back then, so I imagine it's all the better now. Or I would hope. I'd recommend checking twitch or some such for some current footage to see if it's your bag, though.
I only played single when I tried it but the single made me super pumped to do multi. However, that was before I was super burned out on survival games.
Someone enter this. Play it and get excited for the sequel coming in a few days.
FWIW I THINK it will let normal Dishonored owners enter this, but I'd ask anyone that owns it + the Knife and Brigmore DLCs to abstain, as there aren't actually any improvements in the PC version, just the DLC collected into a GOTY style package.
I loved Shadow Complex at the time of its release. Not sure how well it holds up now; at the time there were few other Metroidvanias out there. I saw more negative feedback about the game than I expected when it got a PC release.

It's aged for sure a bit.
I think it got a little bit of a pass on release due to metrodvanias, particularly on pc / HD twin consoles, were pretty damn rare. It was mostly Nintendo and handheld territory. Nowadays it seems like there's a new notable indie one or kickstarter coming out every handful of months, so the shine has worn off. That + it has that sort of ugly Unreal Engine 3 visual design that has thankfully faded away.
Can't tell if this is about my butchering of the spelling or something else lol.
It's about the reminder that I am quickly running out of time to stop waffling on whether to preorder or not.
I'm in the same boat. Got sidelined by Doom (short version: better than I initially gave it credit for) and wanted to go back through Dishonored 1 before biting on the second. But that 'play a day early' offer is looking really tempting.
First game still looks great in my opinion, whether you're swording a dude in the face or eating trash food for health Bioshock-style. And it's got that Deus Ex thing where I find something I didn't notice on previous playthroughs every time. In this case I was poking around rooftops back at home base, surprised one of the maids, and she asked if I was just practicing for my new job. Had a nice, hearty giggle.
Fuck it, I forgot how much I loved this game. Preorder go.

I got it for like 25% off on GMG but I'm STILL tempted to preorder on Steam for the early play. Ideally my GMG code will come early and that will allow me to play Thurs, but I'm not holding my breath since most GMG keys I've gotten have been late.

Kalnaur I am genuinely curious what you think racially appropriate black and indian characters would look like.
Like people not in the stereotypical cultural costumes and trappings?
So, like people? Just, average people?
So minority characters should hide anything about themselves that is culturally significant in order to fit in better with "average" people? That's a pretty awful thing to say.
Tommy from Prey was fantastic. Native American character done really well.
It's funny, because in native american culture "young guy who wants to abandon his roots and leave the rez" is one of the biggest sterotypes of all, but yeah Tommy ended up being pretty solid. Over the course of the game he goes from abandoning to embracing his culture, the spiritualism angle is a little heavy handed at times but it's handled respectfully. Tommy's VA did an interview where he said working on Prey was exciting for him since the character was an actual character, and not just a mishmash of generic exaggerated indian attributes.
I think the juxtaposition between mysticism and sci-fi made for a pretty unique game.
Honestly, Tommy's story felt cliche for a native American character, but deep for a generic character. Looking to the future while coming to terms with your past seems like one of the basic story telling tropes.
Man I'm having such a hard time trying to get myself to finish Mankind Divided. It's not a bad game at all and they way they open up new areas of Prague as you progress is neat, but everytime I load it up I'm just like I could be playing the original Deus Ex and exploring Wan Chai right now.
Can't tell if this is about my butchering of the spelling or something else lol.

I'm very impulsive and saw another, more tempting boat passing by.
Awful lot of seats on this boat, by the way. Be a shame to leave them empty. :bzz:

Yeah I was surprised how badly I kind of bounced off Mankind Divided. It was the game I was most looking forward to for a while. Once it came out I think I just burned myself out on the side content of Prague, doing every bit of side stuff without moving the main plot along. Then just kind of stopped. I came back to it for a bit and did enough of the main plot to head to another location and back again, but haven't done much past that yet.
I played through all of Mafia 3 in the meantime and am probably going to give Dishonored 2 a go next.
Not sure what happened.

Thanks! Wooooo! You're awesome!
I'm totally gonna murderkill all the dudes as Emily...
I need to restart Knights of Pen & Paper because Warrior cleric and Thief are spending more time grinding for resurrection and travel money than actually getting to Quest done, and we are severely under levels for where the quest currently is.

Prague is really well done but it's definitely not nearly as grand in scope as going from New York to Hong Kong. It's a great game but much more narrow in focus than previous entries.
First two levels I did in dishonored was fun, now that theres 2 characters, dishonored 3 should be coop face stabbing action. I love coop stuffs more than single player stuffs by many orders of magnitude.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.

Yeah I miss the globe trotting. At least HR had that, I guess just being stuck in a single country makes me feel less like an awesome world saving super agent.
