Voidwalker is the prince/ss of PVE content
When hard mode hits I can see the use in Sunsinger for the first parts of the raid, but for normal mode I'm with you that Stormcaller into Voidwalker is the most effective and fun

Hmm
This is probably my favourite of the new maps. The other I cannot get an angle on anyone without over committing.
The central intersection has huge magnetism and I do everything I can to resist it.
It is really assymetrical though.
And has pretty good potential for bunkering up in spawn or otherwise. I have no idea how it will play in elimination.
Pros:
MIDA archetype - only legendary in its class
Explosive rounds - makes up for lower per-shot damage (used to Cocytus/raid scout numbers)
Cons:
Outlaw/Take A Knee kind of weak, so a package/engram roll may end up being more "perfect"
Commentary:
Scopes are fine, but personal preferences may differ.
You may want to wear a "scout rifle ammo" chest - it's really easy (AND FUN!) to spam exploding shots at everything
I'm really looking forward to pvping with this weapon.
Next vendor purchase will likely be the Palindrome.

Its, uh, really solid
Raid and warlocks
Things rarely got close enough for me to need life steal on hit when I didn't have it
But scatter grenades melted voltage eaters, killed so many shanks dropping from the ceiling and charging captains
My highest gear for our attempt at the boss was an obsidian mind so I went with axion bolts for shank control mid and I never felt the pinch because I could keep the shanks away really easily. Nova bomb into raze lighter took down the captains and a few shanks very quickly too
Scatter grenades are going to be even more amazing though, as it could well be enough to 1-2 the captain with either razelighter or nova.
My nothing manacles are now my highest and I am really keen to try it out!
I'm curious what NATburn's full class loadout is. I know we definitely just need higher LL for our crew to really push for the Aksis kill. I think our usual is Defender, 2 Hammers, 2 Nightstalker, Jazz Hands or something similar.
I was embarrassing myself last week raving about this gun - it's just a really fun gun to use, and is pretty solid in PvP in 6v6 formats, especially if you start chaining Outlaw/RR for 3 shot kills.
Of course, if you don't hit your headshots, then the small magazine may be very frustrating.
Primary = scout (Cocytus, raid scout, Angel's Advocate) = 2-shot shanks
Special = Black Hammer = boss damage
Heavy = Surplus rocket launcher = more sniper ammo (I'd prefer an HMG so I don't have a chance at exploding myself, but don't have one yet)
This is from memory, so I apologize if any info is wrong. NATburn classes on first kill:
Me and Dngs = Nighstalker
Bogey = Sunbreaker
Booker = Defender (was Striker for awhile, but we needed a Weapons bubble)
Obi = Voidwalker
Gravi = Sunsinger
We had 3 hunters for Motorboat Kitten, so switched to Gunslinger for Nighthawk+GG to insta-kill the captain on my side.

I run Zhalo, Devil's Dawn, Quillim's Terminus because that gives me one of each damage type in case I need to kill a captain without a super. Zhalo is also good at killing the Shanks. DD and QT are a great pair for boss DPS because I start with QT until I need to reload, swap to DD, then back to QT after the perk procs.
edit: fwiw, I would have your Jazz Handers and Hammers swap to Voidwalkers and Strikers and have them be on captain duty
legendary scout rifle
mini spindle 1kys (the year two, season one vendor - solar, mulligan, triple tap)
Raze lighter - usually great, but the centre captain spend a lot of time stuffing about looking at the guys on the left platform and doesn't leave the door area much so you have to rush, hope he doesn't teleport when you close and get your partner to draw aggro from aksis
I was centre cannon.
For my primary am currently evaluating
Vendor Angel's Advocate - as Erevar mentioned those explosive rounds do work, but it's hard to know when reactive reload will proc in the chaos leading to some pointless reloads that impede the shank killing
Vendor Keystone 01 (dead orbit) - crowd control procs automatically, and triple tap + extended mag is useful for boss burn. I don't know if my current light level (376, I jumped up 3 levels in between then and now) is enough to 1 shot shanks with cc active or not. But this is my current favourite.
Randomly rolled The Wound (FWC) - crowd control, extended mag, hammer forged. CC isn't enough to 1 shot shanks, nothing special for boss burn, so it's probably going to end up infusing my keystone.
Of course, should I get a raid scout that will probably all change, because it is a dps bbbbeeeaaasstt
Edit:
Thee bubble Titans, two on right, one mid
Voidwalker, me, mid
Nightstalker and Sunsinger left.
I think we should have moved one of the bubble Titans around and question the utility of the sunsinger.
We were lousy with orbs so we popped bubble a lot during shank phase.

You want me to use guns without triggering the buffs like a peasant?!
Ok that makes sense. But then wouldn't a higher impact gun with the same perks make more sense?
i.e. if I'm going for a helmet upgrade can I just run the Malok strike from the director and open the chest at the end for the helmet, or do I need to wait for the strike to roll around in a playlist to make sure it can go up to 385?
So I know how long until I have to make a decision on picking one up.

About 3 months?
Dont worry Shadrak, I already dialed 911 and the authorities are on their way, I told them to bring in SWAT as the severity of your clever code seemed to suggest that your house and has been taken over by multiple armed extremists, who are currently holding your entire family hostage at gunpoint.
The Vanguard Angel's Advocate is the best, that's what I've been using in raid.
Vendor items aren't going to change for a long time. I think they kept all their gear from TTK drop all the way until the April update which is when they changed.
The basic versions are like blue and yellow and black...not so great.
I dont think you are going to like the new Trials Sparrow or the new Trials shader called Devotion then.
Really puzzled why they didnt make another Flawless emblem  and can you still get Bastet's Dream then?
Too bad they didnt make a ship, I would be plenty satisfied if they just took the Hebridean Thoughtcrime, painted it black and put some Eye of Osiris gold ornaments on it.
Those of us that trials on the xbone are pretty swell. I've never seen or experienced any shittiness from folks here while trialsing. Even when we're tryharding.

Oh no, I wasn't implying anyone here does it. I've been playing with PA dudes/dudettes across consoles and PC for over 8 years, so I've seen some ragers (though few and far between). But the destiny folk are good people.
Also, I got a Cryptic Dragon drop from Crucible I think. It has pretty good perks other than "Take a Knee". I think I might like it better than Angel's Advocate, because it doesnt force me to take a perk that is a downgrade (Explosive Rounds/whatever).
I picked up The Palindrome the other day, I think you'll be happy with it. Feels really good to use.
I ran 'The Hero Formula' during the raid last night. Same archetype with outlaw, explosive rounds, return to sender. It's a fantastic weapon. Return to Sender seemed to proc after almost every other kill so I had to actually stop myself from reloading since the mag was generally over 50% full.
@JusticeforPluto and I are big fans of The Wounded (the FWC Scout); it's slightly slower RoF/higher impact than Angel's Advocate, but the FWC perk structure can result in some rad combinations. And I prefer the current FWC style over its nearest equivalent, Lethe Noblesse.
Confirmed console that Bungie loves most.
The roll on The Wounded looks really, really good, and it's definitely on my shopping list. The great thing about that perk set is that it's excellent for both PvE and Crucible. Plus it's in the Hung Jury archetype, so it should "sit comfortably" in most players hands. I think it would be well worth your 150 Marks.
The reason a lot of Raid folks are picking up Angel's Advocate is actually because of
(Anecdotally speaking, it feels like Explosive Rounds are a lot more powerful in this expansion. Did they buff that perk recently?)
Outside of the Raid, I usually turn ER off, so I can take advantage of the Outlaw/Reactive Reload synergy more often. If you like Gunslinger you can combine it with Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance for laser-like accuracy, near-constant damage boost, and hilariously fast reload speed.
As to which one is "better," I don't think either choice is wrong. Go with what feels comfortable. Personally I like the MIDA archetype, and ER is super fun, but YMMV.
I have 'The Wounded' with explosive rounds/full auto, smallbore/third eye, crowd control . I was using it during patrols and it was solid. I'll give it a whirl during Sunday Best and compare.
Edit: my artifacts to 365 came mostly from opening chests with skeleton keys.
