@liiya what's good to do in Manchester if you're a hipster foodie? My sister has a few days there
@tynic not liiya, but 6 years of working in Manchester left an impression on my waistline. Here's what I can remember
Changos on Oxford road for burritos.
Crazy Pedro's for great pizza.
Home sweet home in the northern quarter for cakes as big as a small child and comfort food.
North tea power for a nice cup of tea and a sit down
Koffee pot for breakfast (knows the difference between Irish and English breakfast)
Almost famous burgers for ridiculous burgers
Fazenda does an all you can eat meat buffet with sizzling stuff brought straight to the table. It's amazing
You're spoiled for choice with Chinese because of Chinatown, but the Yang sing is probably the best mix of taste and value, whilst still being somewhat authentic.
For bars and going out spinningfields has a nice selection - the alchemist / Australasia / neighbourhood
If you want to go fancy there's a James Martin restaurant in the casino (Manchester 235) that is pretty amazing
I also love "hey little cupcake" in spinningfields. Really nice little cafe that does ridiculously decadent cakes
We'll jeez, now I want to visit Manchester.

This is what kills me. It's REALLY easy to say "thank you" and "great stuff", but so many managers just don't do it. It's FREE! It increases PRODUCTIVITY! IT REDUCES WORKPLACE DRAMA WHARGLBARGLL!1!
Sorry.
Glad your management chain transitioned to something better!
oh my god this story is from two years ago and the shit show stories haven't stopped or changed since then
how does that place exist
Haha wow, I didn't realize that happened two years ago this month. Time flies I guess. That lab tech is now in our main office making six figures while sleeping half the day.
In lighter news, our Korean vendors always provide us with the highest quality trash cans wire:
I find shit like this in product we get from Korea all the time. Bottles. Beer cans. Cookie boxes. Old magazines.
Thankfully we've gotten incredibly strict on that kind of stuff, and finding trash inside the wire we get gets it automatically slated for a return.

I want you all to know I read these two posts then sat and stared at a wall for about half an hour trying to understand how.
Just.
How
What really gets me is his choice was "well my bosses will be upset, but let me reach in here and risk losing my arm because I don't want to get yelled at".
I've laughed at supervisors screaming at me, ain't no thing, if I get fired there's always more jobs. You only get one goddamn body.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

Is this just a result of them leaving coils piled around and random folk tossing their shit into the center?
You guys know that Canadian safe workplace video with the cook lady and the pot of oil?
It's looks really bad in real life too. Only this dude was lucky it wasn't his face, but his junk will never be the same.
In short, don't carry pots of boiling shit.
I work the fry station at my new gig. We have no mats anywhere in the kitchen.
I had six days of training, two more to go with last night and tomorrow, got to work to find out that nooooooo, I'm now out of training. Last night kicked my ass, but I managed to muddle through.
Oh, tomorrow starts the new week and I'm not on the schedule yet.
It's safe to say that I'm already looking for another gig, but at least I have a little money coming in while I'm doing it.
Just can't keep his Korean coworkers from tossing their Vegemil drinks into the pile of wire, y'know.
That bottle actually came from the Korean manufacturer that makes about 60% of the steel wire we use. The workers who process and prepare it sometimes toss their shit in there and sometimes it even makes it all the way overseas and up from Charleston.

Co-worker had an issue today while I was out of the office. Texted me for help, then said that he'd sent a copy of the error message he got to our shared email inbox, to see if someone knew what it was.
I almost felt bad for having to inform him that only two people look at the shared inbox, me and him.

It tries to measure whether or not states are giving their residents the chance to succeed.
A big factor in me choosing a position in NC over a local one in NY was opportunity. Some places just have more job openings and more ways to network than others.
Also I'm making the same money with something like a 10% lower cost of living so I'm netting some extra money that way.
Edit: lol and NC had a shit opportunity score
Maybe it's opportunity as in like, how likely are kids growing up there to be successful?
Woo kansas! Top of the bottom of the pack! Given how much lower the rankings for Economy and Government are than the rest of the categories would probably place a good deal higher without Brownback.

how the fuck did Washington wind up at 7 in education
our education system is criminally underfunded*
*
that's not hyperbole, the state supreme court actually ruled that the legislature isn't meeting its constitutional requirement to provide good public education
At the last possible, down to the wire day, the contract extension of one month has come through! I get to come to work tomorrow!
Now to move on to worrying about the new contract bidding and if the next company who wins will offer good pay!
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

I think NH is still somewhat in that boat as well and we got #3 (look up "Claremont Case" if you want details - still hasn't really been solved). The real answer is - good teachers that stay. If the results coming out are good, that's the rating.

Worked in a bojangles for a while (Think KFC but good, for those not in the south) and had to get non-slip shoes. I did, and never in my life have I owned a more skid prone, slippery ass pair of shoes.

Same for KS and we hit 14th in that metric. Think how good it would be otherwise:)
Hey, skid proof shoes could save your life. There's a video where a guy tries to rob a s KFC by making the manager open the safe at gunpoint. The manager crazily manages to get ahold of the gun, and the both fight over it. Manager's non-slip shoes manage to allow him to get the upper hand while the robber slips and slides on the floor.
I'm not surprised in any of the rankings for my state, Maine, except for Opportunity. I'm not really sure how we would be 3rd given the first thing most kids want to do unless they are in a family business like fishing is to get out of the state.

The education ranking might also consider higher education and research, and UW is one of the best research universities around.
yeah I looked it up, apparently we're like 4 in university ratings (which, importantly, does not take into account fiscal burden on the student, which is super high at Washington's universities because they get hardly any funding from the state legislature anymore)
and then like 17th in k-12

New Mexico's intentionally tanking itself in the rankings to take advantage of the consumer bounce-back when we roll out Mexico Classic. It's all part of our cunning 105-year plan.
My state's government recently enacted emergency powers to overturn a ballot measure that was approved by voters in the general election and intend to replace it with a new one they're writing themselves because, in their words "(voters) were hoodwinked by scam artists who grossly misrepresented these proposed measures.” Like, nearly immediately after it was approved.
The measure was the "Government Accountability and Anti-Corruption Act".
Yeah, I'd say we could stand to be lower.

Yeah that's the only way NC isn't way worse.
The Texas government should absolutely not be in the top half
Says everyone about their own state.

Sent him an email this morning saying I'd like to meet with him and still nothing.
I'm on a clock here so I think if I get nothing back by 3 I'm just emailing my resignation.
