This game needs a disconnect grace period like WoW has. If you get DC'd, you have a small window of time to get back in and they won't make you wait through the queue again.
I had a blast today. Decided to wait on starting the main story just because I wanted to test out the new combat system on various jobs. Love it. LOVE it.
Then I ran some roulettes on my tanks, did some pvp, some job quests...then I started hearing about all the msq problems. Glad I avoided it on a whim.
Anyways. PvP is really fun now. Red mage is a blast...there's nothing I dislike so far (server issues for others aside).
Excited to start the msq next week probably. Just gonna level up a few of my lower characters in pvp this weekend.
Oh and Dragoon feels amazing now. Silky smooth. I hated what they did to it in HW, but now...now it's just right.
Just tried to logon, Balmung server. 4500 queue. Jesus.
I woke up about 15 hours ago and got Sam and Rdm unlocked before work. RDM has a... very simplistic rotation. Weird. Ran out of time with it. Sam is weird, seems there are 3 combos to do -- one a damage buff, one a resistance debuff, one a haste buff? It's interesting.

only 250 on sarg.
Isn't Balmung the most populated server right now?
I wonder how many will flee when they can for Omega?
Isn't FF14 one of the top 3 mmos in terms of population? If you're surprised at wait times at a major launch on the most populated servers, maybe your expectations need to be adjusted.
But yeah, I'm sure Runescape isn't having the same problem right now. Feel free to glut yourself on all that availability.
I'm really not a fan of the new way the quest log shows quest locations on the map.
It doesn't take you to the zone the quest is in anymore, just to the big map and you have to pretty much guess what zone it is, in the region it shows you.
It isn't useful at all, and I'm honestly not sure why they changed it to be worse than it was.

Yeah, this is common when new expansions drop, not just for XIV but other popular titles as well. Not only is the normal population playing, but new subscribers and people who are re-subbing specifically because of the expansion.
My biggest disappointment is how the improved resolution screwed up the font size of the NPC chat bubble and main menu. It's annoying having to manually adjust the former with every login. Setting the UI to 150% and UI items to 80% 'fixes' both issues, but then player/interactive item nameplates are OMG huge. AFAIK, there's no way to adjust their size.

If you click in the general area of an aetheryte on the big map, it "zooms in" to the "old" version of the map for that area.
So I am level 60, and I have a ton of poetics. Where is the gear vendor? I looked in Mor Dhona and in ishgard and that town with the goblins and I can't find anything.

Level 50 poetics gear is in Mor Dhona. Level 60 poetics gear is in Idylshire. Vendor is in the center building, the center vendor.
After getting to lvl 60 as a black mage, red mage is messing with my head. Why would I want to get close to an enemy? My instincts scream 'cast a spell at a distance and then run away'!

Thats enough for one day. Fun but I can only go so long before madness sets in.
/dead
yeah because now failing to get in disconnects you, discouraging spamming it
I suppose that means anything like POTD won't work either?

I don't remember being able to just play in TSW when in queue though.

They typically resolve this sort of thing within a week.
The race was too cute to pass on.

Everything else, though? Aces.
*shakes fist at Balmung*

TSW has nowhere near the number of players that FFXIV has.
I know I used to run this perfectly fine before...
For some good-ish news, the devs are aware of the UI issues and are working on a fix: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/328470-PS4-text-size?p=4203027&viewfull=1#post4203027

Hmm, I would've thought those could be toggled off like any other UI element. But guess not.
Makes sense though. The job changes now include information that's presented in the job gauges and not in any other way.
They should just close the servers if it's this bad.

EDIT: Is there something about specific types of queues that are safe and ones that aren't?

Not in my experience, if it's a duty at all you're at risk. Oddly enough, I seem to get kicked every other queue.
Yeah this is dumb. did a PotD fine, did another back to the login screen.
Makes more sense why there are thirteen thousand people fate chaining in the HW zones. I had hoped playing late would help, but guess not.
EDIT: And I'm going to have to wait longer to login than it takes to do a PotD. Cool.

Thats the preorder earring? It'll come when you can enter your code and real launch day. Won't get it during Early Access.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
