Consumption of [chat] Quantities

Once every few decades, a film captures the imagination of a generation and enters the pantheon of greats

The Godfather
Citizen Kane
Star Wars

These are the type of film that I enjoy, and 1993's venerable classic Coneheads stands tall among them.

Look at all that food he eats! Grid-like breakfast slabs, flattened chicken embryos, seared swine flesh.

Use this thread to talk about your favorite Coneheads scenes and only to talk about your favorite Coneheads scenes and maybe how much of a crush you had on Connie, the Conehead daughter.

Chanus, angels in Manhatten was not especially good, mediocre I'd reckon.

hm somehow I volunteered to travel this weekend instead of making my husband come to dc

also he got a somewhat credible death threat at work which is fairly concerning
he doesn't think this patient is actually going to try and kill him but he does think the guy would maybe assault him in anger

    It's pretty scary...

Does your husband regularly go onto the psych ward itself?

I know here they do (the psychiatrists try to meet with every patient daily, if only briefly), and there's definitely a risk factor of violence and / or suicide attempts ... basically at all times. I don't mean to frighten you! There's usually a pretty significant security presence, too, to mitigate most of that risk, but it is still there.

In my local hospital they have a separate psych ward (the PICU - Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) for more ... challenging patients (Nargirl ended up there a couple times for her "failure to cooperate", to put it kindly), and over there especially they have the option to restrain and / or otherwise secure truly dangerous / threatening / risky patients.

Anyway, I assume your husband knows enough to let security know about a potentially violent patient, but I do agree that's always scary and never fun :(

Staying on the psych ward was always an adventure ... >_>

The only Dr Who VHS I owned as a kid is apparently considered one of the worst of the pre-revival Dr Who

It involved an underwater base and two rival factions and also a giant green monster that was clearly just two dudes inside a redecorated pantomime horse

The supporting cast in the 1993 film Coneheads is particularly strong. Chris Farley is great as the love interest for the youngest Conehead. Michael McKean is a prescient and recently-too-relevant overzealous immigration enforcement agent who literally follows the Conehead family into space in order to put a stop to these illegal aliens, with David Space playing cinema's greatest yes-man sidekick.

Moffat a little like George Lucas. When other people present to distill the good from the bad, it is great. Left to own devices though.....
