I dunno there’s no evidence that they’re not working on another game too, this could be a spin-off. That leak doesn’t have everything they’re working on, it’s not total, and it’s at least a year or two old, as well as having several unnamed titles on it

My regular attempt to get Doom Eternal to click for me continues. This time I got further. I was still in the polar fortress which I guess I just found boring? I beat the Hunters and progressed to the Super Gore Nest and I'm enjoying it again.
Hopefully this holds out and I enjoy it enough to finish it.
Eh I think its got everything even moderately sizable that Bethesda planned at the time, although many are codenames. Even Hifi rush is on there (project Hibiki). If they were working on wolfenstein or quake or something at that time, its under one of those codenames.

Yeah, Heretic, Hexen and Hexen II are all owned by Zenimax.
The publishing rights for the hexen II expansion and heretic II were under activision, along with Wolfenstein. I dunno how they wormed Quake 4 out of that deal, but I think Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is under that as well.

I was replaying 2016 doom and I don’t want to to restart the whole eternal v 2016 beef but 2016 has waaaaaay better explosions than eternal, the visual just looks and feels way better, more smoke and billowing flames and just a chunkier impact. I get the feeling they pared the special effect back to save on performance and I feel like that’s not something you should do, explosions should get better looking not sparser and more ephemeral
Different goals. Once thing I'll absolutely give 2016 is the glory kills - they're a lot more creative and satisfying in that than in eternal. The wrist knife is just overused, and it lacks the impact of things like "use a Pinky's tusk to cut it's own throat"
If you're craving some arcade shooter violence, I can strongly recommend Roboquest as an aside. I've been raving about it in the SE++ games thread

QDoom mixes Quake and Doom enemies into the Doom maps, and you use Quake guns, so it's not like playing Doom episode 1.
Yes I'm just salty its not Your Path of Destruction, which is more of a Quake reinterpretation of Doom.
