Counter protest has a permit and the mayor's office has spoken in favor of it, and it's in a spot adjacent to the place where the assholes will be, but not the same place, so hopefully the city response won't be too harsh towards counter-protesters, but who knows :/

hopefully all goes well! Excited and nervous, I have never been to a protest (tho got stuck in a car when BLM shut down the highway in Boston a couple years ago which was neat).

    I am sad that I'm 35 and have never been to a Matrix-style rave/orgy.

I came close at GenCon 2003.. but I had just turned 21 and wasn't up for going to a bar with the guys who were making Shadowrun at the time. Kinda a big regret of mine.
I don't know if getting an STD from a nerd fuckfest is a key life experience.

First: Okay, I'm exaggerating. It was actually just going to a punk rock thingy to watch Robert Boyle's band. I doubt I would have been invited to any sex that went on.

Second: There's a very large kink community at GenCon. I know, because a close friend of mine helps organize safe meetups.

If you look at the late night events, there are always (really expensive) bondage tutorials

Organized kink seems to have high overlap with nerds

Actually, many friends of mine are in the kink community, now that I think about it.

I was at a going away party for a friend, sharing stories and such with another couple, and they were like "So we met [dude] at.. erm..." and I was like "It's okay, don't say anything more, I'm well aware and it's fine. Not my thing in person, but still cool nonetheless."

My friend has a really cool electric wand setup thingy that's apparently quite bracing and exhilarating.

... There was also that time another friend and future coworker asked me if I'd be interested in joining a swingers orgy the first time I met him. Despite being a bit drunk, that was a very quick no.

You shouldn't talk that way about yourself even in jest >:[

Also thinking you're hot shit doesn't necessarily lead to a sex life (although actually mine has finally been resurrected after really too long, possibly from me just very strongly projecting 'i am hot' until that got a response, heh)

last night Pinecone came home from seeing some friends, in the following state:

disheveled, smelling of cigarettes, pot and alcohol, carrying a hookah (we do not own a hookah) and a strange print of what looks like an old miniature painting of a little boy and girl in victorian clothing, the boy looking up the girl's skirt while she does laundry

so far I have received no explanation of any of these things and also I only got 5hrs of sleep because we were talking about trust as a concept til really late
