I still can't comprehend how or why Barb resonated with so many people.
She was pretty relatable to people who had friends that socially climbed faster than they did, especially in their formative years.
I dunno, she clicked for me because I never saw myself as the hero in a slasher film or a monster movie. I'd be the signpost.

I think gotham suffered a bit from the actor playing jim gordon not measuring up to the performances of the other characters. Blacklist has the same issue with James Spader just being better than the co-stars.
