I forgot to mention that Tom Hardy's evil, shifty, duplicitous Jew character is also an unhinged homosexual. This is the second time that Tom Hardy has played an unhinged, homosexual gangster in about two years. That is an actual fucking trope that exists.
I take it this comes up in the fourth season? I don't recall anything about this in the first 3.
If you are commenting on things that happen in season 4 could you please use spoilers?

I don't want to post some insane plot spoilers to this incredibly original, non-derivative show, but at one point our noble hero wants to go legit, and while he tries to get out they keep pulling him back in.
I do like how Breaking Bad inverted this trope by giving Walt every opportunity to get out, only for him to stubbornly remain in.

Peaky blinders isn't great but I think it's season 2s finale that has a really great ending moment. I'll look it up before posting don't want to spoil the wrong thing.
They have now thrown into the story that the Trump presidency is a conspiracy masterminded by BD Wong's character Whiterose
Wow that is a VERY BAD CALL
It's kind of a shame because (s3e1-s3e3 Mr Robot spoiler)
I thought they did a really good job framing the Trump election as a bastardization of fsociety's populism. The rich and power take that language, commodify it, and use it as their own.
Then, apparently worried we couldn't connect the dots, they just have Whiterose come out and say "hey I want to support this dude"

Yeah, I liked season one a lot but season two lost me pretty hard. I realized I was like a couple of weeks behind on season 3 and didn't really have the urge to catch up when that spoiler got posted and I decided I'm good.
Ellie Kemper is a delight, but she needs to be in another show with another supporting cast.
ellie kemper is so great in the office that her performance tricked me into watching kimmy schmidt. I didn't like 30 rock much at all! I especially didn't like jane krakowski in 30 rock! I don't know what I expected!

Ellie Kemper is my favorite person. I am entirely on board with whatever her next project is.

What was the other one?
He was both Kray twins in Legend.

So its just a general trope, not specific to tv. A sort of, television trope, if you will.
I dunno if I'd call it better than season 1. Just like in s1, they spend a lot of time with smaller groups of characters following their own plot threads, that only really converge in the last few episodes, and they introduce more characters while continuing to use all of the ones from season 1, so that means longer stretches before we check in with the others. Like, there's something like a 3 episode span where eleven just isn't in them, at all. It's scarier, and it definitely raises the stakes, so I enjoyed watching it, but after thinking about it or re-watching it, I could see myself having some issues.
They do a good job at pretty much closing all the plot points though, and while it sets up that there will be a season 3, with the current state of the world, I have no idea where they're going from here.

I'm only 1/3 into the first episode of Stranger Things 2, but the most important detail has been confirmed

Caught the Michael Jackson Halloween special tonight. It's portrayal of MJ as a vampire lord Willy Wonka was very strange but also appropriate, I think.
honestly I'm not sure how I got past "what is...friend" from season one of stranger things, but here I am, watching season two

Just finished episode six of Stranger Things, and I'm calling it a night
It is still fantastic. The worldbuilding, tone, and cast are just as amazing the second time around
The newer characters have a harder time being integrated, but I really like Max, Sean Astin is decent, and Paul Reiser is an improvement on Matthew Modine in every way (it is actually shocking how much they turned that role around)
Max's brother is pretty terrible though
The Barb stuff is brief and entirely appropriate. There is a meta line about how no one in Hawkins cared that she died, but that was fine and everything else makes perfect sense as far as how Nancy would react and it goes to a different place pretty quickly
I disagree with Sepinwall's assessment that that plotline was lacking, as I really enjoyed
the conspiracy theory guy, and it actually sold me on Nancy/Jonathan, which I was very much against last season
I also think that Elle's storyline is worthwhile, despite what Sepinwall thinks
Whether you liked or disliked Winona Ryder last season, I think you'll like her now, as she basically becomes an action hero very quickly
And if you, like me, loved Steve, you will be very happy with the back half of the season
My main complaint thus far is that while I'm glad that we finally got to know Will as a character, I'm very much tired of him being the eternal victim.
Give the guy a win already
Oh, and season one definitely had moments of levity, but I'm surprised how funny this season is

Will has a big win later on, considering what the guy's been through.

I didn't notice this! I couldn't tell you about anyone's costume in those scenes though, I only noticed the named characters, and I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be
That's technically believable for the time period but also they could have just not, so yeah
On the subject of representation, there are more than twice as many black characters (Lucas's family), they show up a fair amount but certainly aren't main characters, and I'm pretty sure
Max's brother
is implied to be possibly gay or bi
And they actually address the issue of Winston from Ghostbusters pretty well, I was surprised
Lucas refuses to be Winston, not because he's the black Ghostbuster, but because he thinks Winston's lame because he shows up late in the film and isn't a scientist
Likewise, Mike knows he can't be Winston because he's white, not because Winston is somehow lesser. It's not "Lucas should be Winston because he's black," it's "no one else can be Winston, so I thought Lucas agreed to be" but Lucas did not agree, so they are stuck with two Venkmans

This was all amazing, and I very much look forward to where they take it. The joke that got the biggest laugh from me was probably either

Steve's hair is still ridiculous and amazing
Final episode:
he showed up before that in non-speaking roles
i.e. he was an extra in the Stonecutters episode
Maybe we could just put Red Dwarf back in the vault now.
I'll be honest
Up until this post, I had approximately zero interest in more Stranger Things
But now I'll probably give it at least an ep
I'm back out, baybeeeeeeeeee

THIS
SHOW
Does anyone else find NBC's browser streaming really glitchy? Not like, rain-of-mouth-coins glitchy, just weird jumps, pauses and resets.
Yeah their player is awful
That was way better than a season 2 of that show should've been! Way creepier than that first one.
