    Some SMBC comics I think are okay:

    EDIT: But just so we can keep this about PBF as well:

    I don't know, I'm not finding the non-PBF comics too hilarious, myself.

    For the most part, yeah, most of the non-PBF stuff posted in this thread are pretty crappy. Although to be fair, the D&D one posted above was pretty funny.

    I never really picked this one up, but about how often does a new PBF comic come out. SMBC comics are daily, VG cats weekly, etc. etc. etc. but PBF has been longer IIRC.

    Complaining about SMBC's captions is a bit dumb, the captions are the humour. I find SMBC very funny myself; once a day for a comic is damned impressive too.

    I think it was SMBC, but I can't find this one comic. It's like at a funeral and the priest is going crazy, saying something like "And now you shall rise up and strike back!" and the caption was "All was in awkward silence except for the soft scratching of bone on the wooden casket lid.

    I found it on Oh No Robot six down, but the link doesn't work.
    * Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

    Priest: And now, rise from your grave!
    Caption: The only thing more uncomfortable than the ensuing ten-minute silence was the soft sound of bone tapping against wood.

    It would have been clever if left alone, but the last panel ruined it with the "clever trick punchline". Shit like that is why I dislike that comic.

    -edit-

    And the Jesus one, the bingo one, the cutting the baby in half one... Those are just stupid. They aren't quite Garfield/Family Circus bad, but they are just as bad as all the Far Side knock-offs that have cropped up since Larson retired.

    That's what made it funny. Without the last panel, it would've just been HURR HURR D&D

    Agreed. Without the last panel, it would've just been a generic nerd joke that we've heard a million times before. At least the final panel throws you an unexpected curveball. It got a chuckle out of me anyway.

    Did you ever see those modified Garfield comics where...I think they took out like all of Garfield's dialog and it was just John talking to himself basically? It instantly makes the comic a hundred times better :).

    SMBC is awesome and those who disagree should be hanged.

    PBF is my favorite webcomic, though. And someone on page 3 or so said The Parking Lot is Full sucked, which is not entirely true. Inconsistent, maybe, but it had some funny strips, and had the same style of humor as PBF. I'll see if I can find any of my favorites.
