Star Wars 9 Is Already Getting Review Bombed On Rotten Tomatoes
    ScreenRant wrote:
With Star Wars 9 still months away from hitting theaters, toxic fans are already at it again on the movie’s Rotten Tomatoes page, attempting to torpedo the film’s "want to see" rating by posting negative comments. Of course, none of the commenters in question have seen the movie, and Rotten Tomatoes has not as yet calculated an actual audience score. Many of the comments actually focus on lingering negativity over The Last Jedi, which was itself subjected to an organized campaign of Rotten Tomatoes trolling in an effort to hurt its score. Despite the campaign, The Last Jedi still went on to gross $1.3 billion at the global box office.

With Captain Marvel it's annoying, sure, but at least they held fire until the weekend of critic screenings. But this is so pathetic it's funny.

The Rotten Tomatoes site doesn't lock down a movie's comment section until it's properly out? That's dumb.

This seems like a problem Rotten Tomatoes should resolve if they want anyone to take their website seriously anymore.

Early reviews are Rotten Tomato's life blood. They can't cut those out.

Also it seems like websites still think it's 1997 and the amount of maintenance/moderation needed for a site like Rotten Tomatoes is at or near zero.

So far the plan for companies seems to be "stick our heads in the sand until our service literally collapses in on itself and everyone is fired".

It's ok my uncle works at Star War and he says the movie is pretty good.

They should at least wait until the movie's had an actual showing somewhere first before opening comments up.

Now they just need to not show them after the movie is released and we’d be set

Personally, I would have used any prerelease reviews as a trivial way to identify and ban the accounts obviously trying to deliberately manipulate the scores, aka interfering with their business.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.

I would probably have the biggest, doofiest grin for such an extended period of time that the rictus-like mask of my face would need surgery to correct it.

    No, two surgeries.

The only time I've been kicked out of anywhere was right after seeing Revenge of the Sith on opening night. I went with a big group of friends (we were in high school at the time) and we were all pretty pumped, so we went to a supermarket, grabbed a bunch of lightsabers from the toy aisle, and had a massive fight throughout the store. In retrospect I feel a bit bad about it, but we didn't damage anything and it was late at night so there weren't too many shoppers to disrupt.

Speaking of IX I actually wonder where Abrams will go with it.

There were some things I liked about XIII and some things I didn't but I felt it tried to do things with the SW universe we hadn't really seen from the movies.

Abrams, on the hand, I find him to be an entertaining yet safe director so I'm not sure what to expect.

I have this idea where Kylo goes and reunites all the Knights of Ren who have scattered across the galaxy, and then Rey goes through them all Game of Death-style.

I’ve seen some theories that what Rey sees during her vision in TFA are things still to come so I’m thinking we’ll see the Knights of Ren in a planet of muck. Who knows what else, though!

I honestly wouldn't mind IX being more action-y.

My only real complaint is I felt the first half of XIII kind of dragged. Like I get why it did but would prefer the next one be much more fast-paced.

I thought XIII was way too linear in the first half and while the back half opened up nicely it took too long to get there and my engagement was already gone.

Also it was really dumb that the POV protagonist was clearly just a wife fantasy for the series director.

Make your own set of the armor then freeze yourself.

Because then if the cyro-chamber malfunctions and you end up being frozen far into the future everyone who defrosts you will just presume you are an ancient warrior.

I knew boba. He was a man of many words... At least 8, but probably not more than 12. He didn't die like a gag character at all. Very cool guy. He will be missed, except that one time

I'd say FF4. Vader-ish dark knight who is the protagonist's relative, final battle on the moon, fighting your evil reflection, dealing with your dark side...

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

I meant aesthetically, but yeah. Final Fantasy has long had a close bond with Star Wars, although Star Wars itself is so templated off samurai films it's hard to say if it's a matter of parallel evolution or direct inspiration.

Oh, there's no question. Final Fantasy games love to directly reference Star Wars. Especially in 6.
