Man, I don't know what the deal with Morgana saying I was near the end of that dungeon. There was a LOT more to do.
That said, though, I made it to the treasure, all that's left is to send the calling card and fight the boss.
Third dungeon you said, right?
The layout for Kaneshiro's place is misleading because you're physically very 'close' once you make it down into the vault, but it's all side paths to get through to the center, bit by bit, so in terms of time-spent you're only maybe halfway or two thirds.
Yup, totally right.
Beat Kaneshiro with little issue, though I did burn through a few items to magic away the rage/sleep he’d inflict on people. Need more Relax Gel!

Persona 5 is definitely more stingy with its otherwise innocuous items than I'm used to with other RPGs. The item equivalents of stuff like potions, antidotes, etc that I'm so used to having just way too much of in other games are way tougher to collect in Persona.
I imagine because it's all about SP budgeting, so they don't want to give you too many ways of circumventing it
Generally I haven’t had too much of an issue of it, but yeah, every once in a while I’ll be like oh fuck, i don’t have ANY items for [insert ailment here{

That's part of it, but you can build a good stock of SP recovery items between palaces if you chip away at the Hierophant and the Empress confidants.
The cures and antidotes just don’t drop or show up in chests very much at all. But they’re pretty easily buyable. Tae has some good multistatus antidotes.
Got Royal yesterday. Halfway through the castle now, looks like a one day clear is very doable. I got as much SP restore as I could. But guns have been so good I don’t need a lot of it. I should have gotten more regular healing items.
I feel like I can just freestyle and get all the confidants again, is that still the case? As long as I’m smart about matching persona, one day clears, Fortune, etc? It looks like there’s some extra stuff to do with pool and darts though.
I found that if you completely ignore the question and just try to either spell something or answer with something that is relevant to the current story

Yes for sure.
I had finished the Platinum for P5 at the end of February, so the game was still fresh in my mind sort of (my Platinum runs of persona I use a guide to clean up all the trophies. First run I always do blind. So the optimal run was semi fresh in mind).
I maxed out all stats before the final palace of vanilla, and maxed out all confidants the day after I beat the final p5 palace (but prior to the deadline, which is why I had time). I also maxed out all the pool and darts stuff.
That's not even counting the extra days between beating it and the deadline, AND all the new extra time.
If you're pretty familiar with vanilla P5, maxing out everyone in one run isn't too hard at all.
I THINK fortune is nerfed a bit now but it still helps incredibly.
I managed to get the Platinum for P5R in one run, without a guide. Just doing stuff from P5 and trying the new stuff out.

And abuse of Sun and Death (iirc) will just let you go nuts, unless they changed those accessories in Royal. Staple a set of 4 to the party and just forget about the slot.
Did vanilla P5 have the demon personality type shown during negotiations? I don't remember, I don't think I did many late-game.
And I had forgotten how good the set-piece dungeons are early on. Really a step up from the random bits of 3/4.
It did, but Royal added dialogue hints from your navigator that gave hints as to what those types actually mean and what kind of options you should look for.

I wish it used elements of Raidou 2's negotiation, like if you have a Persona that matches the demon, they could help you smooth things over. It's the best negotiation system SMT has ever had.
I'm replaying Royal to get the last few trophies and noticed something wonderful
When Makoto is charged with finding the Phantom Thieves, but before she records you and gets wrapped up in Kaneshiro's thing, while you're in school, you can sometimes see her following you, always a few paces behind, with her face very conspicuously buried in a magazine. If you approach her, she turns away.
One of the times, she was definitely holding the magazine upside down.

I've had a few demons seems like they're reacting to what I'm carrying.
I have to say I really appreciate that if you're vastly over leveled compared to the shadows in Mementos, you can just autowin the battles.
this is not mementos specific, works in regular dungeons also if you sprint into enemies from behind if very overleveled. I found it happening late in the game quite often

Man I do not remember Yosuke being so sleazy, but, on second thought... Yeah, he always was huh?
Yeah, Yosuke definitely did a lot of work to sour me on P4G until I had access to more confidants and could hang out with them and ignore his existence.
Wait are you talking about Yosuke or Yusuke? I guess the answer is the same either way
Does Royal do anything to make Haru less of an afterthought or does she still get shortchanged

Yusuke is so much worse than Yosuke imo

You get more time to interact with people in general, so...kind of? The extra has at least one more 'heart to heart' scene with each character, and as a group
It's also interesting to try and think about how many times Yusuke actually like...proactively communicates with other members of the group, outside of his social link.
Most of the time he talks, it's either to himself, or about himself, and often both.
People talk about Haru being an afterthought but in her short time with the crew she's a MUCH more active member than Yusuke.

Kind of funny in hindsight that people thought Yusuke might be gay during his reveal, when he's arguably the biggest pervert of the bunch.
I don’t know if they just made it way easier to make some moderate SP recovery or I’ve just got pro MLG strats, but I got that sweet sweet sensation of doing all of Kamoshida’s palace in one day
Not as nice as the other ones since it’s only like two weeks free instead of the full month, but I’ll take it

The new collectible items in each palace gives you a decent SP recovery. That and guns reloading with each fight conserves a LOT. It's very doable to get through palaces in one go.
