In terms of balance changes, today's patch buffs the effective range on a handful of characters - McCree, Soldier, and Bastion see their minimum damage at max range increase from 30% to 50%, and Mei's icicle/alt-fire will have no damage fall off at all, similar to Zenyatta's orbs.

There are also a bunch of support balance changes coming, but those only just went on the PTR so it's unlikely they'll be part of today's patch.

    Maybe I've just been running into average pharahs, but I'm putting up more than a decent fight against her. A hitscan tank is something I've been wanting for a while. The character that I'm having the most trouble with so far is Reaper, though that's not too surprising.

    I'm having trouble maintaining momentum. Mostly because I think I know how to swing around a corner or whatever and then slam into a wall.

    If you have twitch prime, there are 2 Hammond item only boxes available. I didn't read them properly but I'm guessing they're legendary boxes, because I got 2 legendary skins from them. Both of his epic skins, too.

    The very first thing I did after installing the patch was buy the Mayham skin and Peace victory pose, because punk hamster mimicking D.Va's reclining on the mech pose is too good

    Mei feels really scary now. They’d already buffed her primary fire, making it penetrate through targets to hit multiple enemies and making the slowing effect a bit stickier

    and now with zero damage falloff on her icicles she can pressure enemies at a distance like Zenyatta

    Ya I need to start making some compilation Lucio vids my map knowledge has made me stupid (helps compensate for my shit aim!) once you accept Lucio is a secretly hidden skateboarding game inside Overwatch and you start crossing maps at full speed while facing the other way shooting headshots backwards people get really flustered

    I don't think she ever should have had damage fall off. So that's whatever.

    But please for the love of God stop buffing Mei. She's so obnoxious at mid levels.

    stray observations...

    hammond is weird and hard and bad. he has a lot of the basic tactical weaknesses of roadhog (specifically, being huge and fat), but his disruption is not enough to compensate...

    he's really good at breaking the hanumura A mei choke though, since that's now guaranteed with her buff

    gonna take a while for him to be not a disaster in quickplay


    also: the falloff buffs rule

    Yeah my takeaway with hammond so far is that I'd have to get a much better handle on his movement tricks before I could figure out if I even liked him.

    Hammond's swinging is definitely going to take some time to get used to, let alone master, but I had some success on Volskaya B defence with some horizontal swings to break up enemy clusters. Any thoughts on toggle vs hold for the grapple?

    Hold feels fine on PS4, as it’s on the left trigger

    I played around with the swinging a bit last night, just loading up empty custom games to play around on different maps.

    Gibraltar attack in particular seems fun, you can jump from the high exit from spawn, grapple the side/bottom of the bridge just past the payload and swing/launch to the high ground by the first corner where Torbs and snipers like to set up

    Yeah, I'm on XB, my first hurdle to overcome is understanding that Hammond is not Spider-Man, his swing is useful but that cooldown is limiting.

    I think Hammond needs a dive comp built around him to work. You gve him a D.Va and a Zen to work with and he can really shine. Add Zarya to that and he's immortal.

    I guess I can safely skip the first 20-30 mins of the broadcast and that would apply to any musical performance. I love music, but I’m tuning in to watch high level Overwatch, not for a musical performance.
