A friend of mine got Canis because he seems to like collecting / building over playing. That being said, he does occasionally play and said that the instructions instructed that he could build it as one of a couple different Knights.
Which one would be the best for it?

That sounds more like a people problem than anything wrong with your kill team. Multiplayer games are also never gonna be balanced in any way, someone always gets dogpiled.
That was definitely an issue with the players and not how Killteam should've gone. That's primarily what I've been playing these days, and my feeling is that you really can't have more than two players on a single board, and lots of multilevel and LoS blocking terrain is a must.
Also, players really need to not be dicks and make the game unfun with their antics.

The players weren't intentionally being dicks in that game. That's the impression I got anyway. I think it's tough to set up a completely balanced battlefield with asymmetric terrain features. Sure we could have all done better, and I wasn't trying to make a fuss about it being my first game in the store. Likewise I can understand that Guard player's objection: he fucked up in his deployment and had my charge gone off successfully the next turn he would have had to face down a balanced team of 3 melee and 3 ranged marines behind cover with all of his dudes stuck in melee. Of course with my rolls that game he may have still had a chance. Regardless it's human nature to want to be competitive and look for options. Like I said he admitted his fault later on, and maybe afterwards he learned a valuable lesson about why always trying to weasel your way in a game doesn't make you many friends over the long war.

It’s being made by the people who made the Helsreach fan film, so this makes sense.
Some people can be the nicest guys you’ll ever meet but put them in a competitive environment and they turn into assholes. Like a switch goes off in their heads.

The castlevania style is a little too clean and computer drawn imo. Gimme something scratchy and stylized like Genndy Tartatovsky (but not quite as freakazoid looking body shapes)
Part of me in not sold on CSM because about 20 years ago when I did try to play them it was horrible
I lost a whole squad of Khorne Terminators to lasgun fire rolling snake eyes. Another game I lost because my CSM missed every shot and failed in melee in short It was a bunch of games with poor rolling that made me lose interest in them
I put them up and have not looked at them since other than when I took a few pics of them. I kind of want to play them again but I just don't know
THe Horus Heresy stuff does make me want to build a small army from that era
Chaos marines are due a model update; the current ones are what? 3rd or 4th edition? 10+ years old? They really don't line up well with the new Plague and Rubric marines. Hopefully Khorne beserkers get some love as well.
That said, I could understand if people were getting a bit apathetic about 40k releases, if they weren't all that interested in Marines or Chaos (or Knights).

Scouts with camo cloaks and sniper rifles are a riot in kt (make one a demo specialist and he can be handing out mortal wounds on a 4+ in a game where most models only have 1W),

I used to think Space Marines looked so cool, but now that Primaris were introduced, they look so squat and misshapen to me. It's amazing how seeing something better can completely change your mind. Makes me wish I could do an entire army in Primaris, including devastators and everything.

I'm currently preparing a whole CSM army with primaris proportions, so...
Though that idea was just put on hold, I'm waiting to see what GW whips up in those 80 days.

New CSM models would 63% make me want to play 40k again.
I won't lie if we get new CSM models I might try and dump a bunch of my old squat marines for them and finally paint a CSM army a standard color. The fact my army's base color isn't even produced by GW anymore drives me nuts.
Unless CSM get entirely new rules, what exactly will you do with them? They're not exactly shining stars of their codex.
Can run them as chosen if they aren't changed in rules.
But I feel there might be some new units/rules coming down with the release. Also the eternally rumored EC codex. Most power armor I use now are noise marines and havocs.

I played a game last week where we explicitly chose to not bring top tier armies. My Necron showed up with a ton of Warriors and his Ultramarines did not have Guilliman.
Sometimes, you can have relaxed games .

Now that units can have their rules changed around in chapter Approved, there’s nothing stopping chaos marines from getting some buffs.

So I’m looking at the Sisters beta codex and arco-flagellants are back, baby. For the low, low price of 2CP and having a missionary nearby (not even that near if you give them the book of +3" aura range) you get nine attacks at S5 AP-1 per 15pt model. Oh and they each die on a roll of a 1 afterwards but who’s counting that?
I am torn I don't know if I want to give these two different bases than the common 32mm one
I just don't know as some of them like the Leman Russ turret would work for things like the Hive Tyrant I am working on but others are too busy for what I would like

And my apothecary whom I feel I am going to build a dead marine at his feet behind him so he harvested his gene organs and runs off to try to save another

My brother bought the Dark Vengeance box at the LGS doing 50% off all warhammer stuff until it is all gone and I'm gonna be using the Dark Angels to goof off with the Lion and Wolf stratagem (I think it is still a thing) and I'm kind of tempted to get the Dark Vengeance Dark Angels expansion they have but I also want to grab Black Fortress from there because for some bizarre reason they got in a copy even though they don't order it anymore.

I got one I remember I pre ordered it a few weeks before I really had enough of two people and quit playing and 40k for a few years I picked it up a week after I quit so it just sat still wrapped until last year
