I never got past this upcoming boss casually,I just rented the game and he fucking destroyed me utterly

Thanks! I'm not missing Night Trap, no way no how. I'm sad he's doing the perfect ending, there's so many more options, I would take donations on what ending to get, since the last five minutes of the game is utter pandemonium, and the multiple endings all take place in the same time frame.
GDQ got me in the mood for some speedrunning, so I did my first Bionic Commando run in a little while. I was thinking it'd just be a warmup run and didn't bother recording video, so of course I end up PB'ing by almost 2 minutes.

I also decided to work on my Double Switch skills.
Nine below the best score, but I've beaten it off stream before, go figure.
(My best is 143)
All the retries are due to how heavy RNG-based Double Switch is. Some cycles are easy, some are literally impossible(enemies appear in one room at the same time you have to rescue someone in another). Night Trap is fixed, DS is not.

Make sure you reach out to PJ if you haven't. He's the best possible resource for these games.

PJ runs the 2D Bionic Commando games, but according to what he's got listed on his website he hasn't done speedruns of Bionic Commando 2009.
The fastest time for BC09 is 59:02 by Murphagator. I need to do a thorough comparison to my own runs at some point, but I think the difference can basically be summed up as him being slightly better at the swinging than me.

I emailed GDQ asking about Double Switch, but it would be a super stressful game to speedrun, not to mention trying to get all the best moments of the story and keep people clued in.
I'm really curious how the Night Trap runner is going to handle it. He's doing a perfect run, so he won't see everything, but he will get a lot.
You can tell how much moving and shaking that game takes to master. It's really not as easy as it looks, I've been playing it since it came out and still struggle to get a perfect game.
The PS4 version makes it much easier, but it's still tough.

The number of non-US based runners is a pretty cool aspect of the digital format.

PJ has played 2009 and speedrun it, I've seen him do it on stream. He likes rearmed 2 and has the WR there too, but hates rearmed 1 (I think he has wr or a good time there too).
Murph, one of PJs good friends, is the big 09 guy though yes.

A commentator is probably about to get banned or at least in some amount of trouble because during Jet Set Radio they spoke about some of the IRL shit going on. Not radically so and it was really brief, but still. I appreciate it at any rate.

What runs so far have had devs on who have had great reactions to their game being broken?
The Dusk run is pretty great. Apparently, the devs left parts of the game the way they are so speed runners could do their thing, but they were stunned by how quickly the runner flew through the game and how much stuff they skipped.

I'm guessing it had something to do with the police, since they're antagonists in JSR.

Wirtual killed it, and I loved seeing the reaction in chat of people who haven't seen either him or the speedrun before.

I got some version of the hydro city zip when I was a kid replaying the game. I was extremely confused because my sloppy play someone pooped me out at the ding dang boss.

I unapologetically love Night Trap, even though I'll have to be up at 3AM to watch it.
I even wrote an article detailing how many crazy secrets it has, not bad for a game filmed in the late 80s and turned into a Sega CD game four years later... then ported to the PS4 a couple decades after that.

I saw that too, is it our Baidol? I should've volunteered to host Night Trap, lol, I have the game to a science.
Maybe I should sign up to do Double Switch, I've nearly done a perfect run...
Yes, it was me, and now I shall nap.

Fun game and the movement feels great
I know very little about that game, but my response to someone thinking about speedrunning a game is "do it!"

By number captured. 137 to 132.
I'm not sure how he's a full minute ahead though, the game has a fixed start and ending point.
